AI4EO is dedicated to organising cutting-edge artificial intelligence-based challenges in partnership with esteemed partners and sponsors. These challenges not only promote the growth and engagement of the AI4EO community, but also provide a platform for researchers and coders to showcase their work and make a tangible impact in solving some of society’s most pressing challenges. By leveraging AI technology and utilising Earth observation data, we aim to extract valuable insights and information to drive positive change.

AI4EO is an initiative of ESA Φ-lab implemented by a consortium of private companies and startups composed of Novaspace (formerly SpaceTec Partners), Planetek Italia, Sinergise, GMATICS and EarthPulse.

Check it out

Thank you to all coders! We just concluded the #AIforEarthChallenge 2024. Clay challenged the AI4EO community to dive into landcover classification, aquacultural detection, and more during this exciting challenge. We will come back with the announcement of winners soon.

#MapYourCity – Now closed

The #MapYourCity Challenge just closed and has been a great success. Thanks to all the teams and participants for their great and hard work. We are currently evaluating the top contributions and will announce the winners shortly. Stay tuned 🙂

A collaboration between KP Labs, ESA & partner QZ Solutions, and empowered by the AI4EO Challenges by ESA Φ-lab, this challenge revolutionizes the future of farming with the help of in-orbit processing!

Encouraging Interaction

AI4EO Challenges

AI4EO Challenges, an initiative from Φ-lab of ESA’s Directorate of Earth Observation Programmes, strives to bring the worlds of AI and EO closer to encourage interaction and collaboration.

Artificial Intelligence

When large amounts of data is captured by remote sensing devices on EO satellites, our computers and AI algorithms can be used to help us solve problems. They can learn to recognise patterns and find correlations that humans would otherwise miss.

Earth observation

EO data allows us to gather global information about our planet Earth’s physical, chemical and biological systems via satellites carrying remote sensing devices.
