I bought these as I read silk was better for your hair than traditional ponytails. After over a year of using products from Silkie, I have less ripping of my baby fine hair, fewer knots, and less scalp pain than I am used to. These do not catch, rip, or knot my hair at all but they will still hold it back. They have also held up well under regular hand washing or in my machine on gentle cycle, though it you pull on them too much, they may stretch out a little bit. I plan on buying more and only wish they came in more colors as I do like to color coordinate all my accessories with my outfits or current hair color.

One last thought - I also like how the silk feels on my skin of it's on my wrist. It's very smooth and I figure that's why it doesn't year up my hair, as well as why it doesn't hurt my wrist skin (I'm very sensitive).
