Bought this as previously had one for our first child and worked a charm - therefore a "new and improved" automatic setting when the baby stirred in the night was a no-brainer.How wrong we were - after 1 month of use, the sounds never played longer than 5 minutes, which if anyone has a little one will know, most of the time is not long enough, and also the batteries were needing replaced once a week - which surely isn't right.Needless to say we gave up on it and didn't think about it again until now. A relative is having a baby and we thought to give them this (as a try to see if they could get it to work) however, after going to check it was working, can see that the device has corroded the batteries, which in turn have leaked inside the battery device. Has to be a serious health and safety issue with this and as such would not recommend, and will not be giving one as a gift!!

We've only been using Ewan for about 2 weeks now and it works so well for our baby. She is a contact napper during the day who wakes as soon as she is set down but when it comes to night time sleep we've had no issues settling her into her cot drowsy and she falls asleep within 20/30 minutes with no fussing or crying just listening and looking at Ewan. I have noticed even in a short space of time it eats batteries so I would recommend investing in rechargeable batteries and a charger!

Long story short, if you need a white noise machine then I would suggest a plugin unit that sits in the room somewhere. This product is very sweet and very well made, our little one likes hugging it but it's also very expensive, a bit limited and if you don't manually switch off the light and the cry sensors it gobbles batteries. If you want a white noise machine that can be hugged then this is great but if you just need white noise I would look elsewhere. Also we found the cry sensors didn't tend to work very well.
