NetGalley Shelf 4+

Well this was a massive disappointment! I was thrilled when I heard NetGalley was releasing its own app. I thought it would be brilliant to have easy access to all the ebooks and audiobooks in one place. However unfortunately this hasn’t turned out like that at all! I have an iPad mini 2 and although it says it should be compatible apparently it is only available on iOS 13 which I can’t get! Why?!! It’s not as though there’s anything particularly cutting edge about what is essentially a book and audiobook library!!! My iPhone has iOS 13 and yes I can install it there but for some reason out of the 32 books on my bookshelf this app can only find 1!!!!! I’m sorry but this is utterly ridiculous and a waste of time. Hi back to the drawing board and produce something fit for purpose please!!!!!

Sometimes a little disappointed that I get emails about books I can request, so I do then get refused almost all the time. Why email me then? 🤷‍♀️

Overall brilliant app to read on especially in dark mode which I use for most apps because my eyes go gozzy 🤪 with black writing on white pages.

Is it possible to highlight? I haven't seen an option to do that, I may be looking in the wrong place...Highlight and keep highlighted on certain paragraphs and I don't mean to copy and past, but to make it stand out if and when you want to go back. This would be helpful and I’ve heard other people talk about it on other apps but does NetGalley do it?

I’ve used Netgalley for some 10 years and was delighted to see they have an App. I expected a slick way to check my shelf, see what’s new, submit reviews etc etc. Thought it would also make the new Audio downloads easy.

In practice, it’s dreadful. Cumbersome to navigate, downloads are horribly slow and the user interface is clunky. I’m using it only for audio and that’s because I can’t find a better way to download new books. App needs a lot of work.
