Description

See what mountain peaks are around you simply by pointing your iPhone at them!

Using augmented reality, this app is fast and smooth, displaying information about the peaks near you. Position any peak within the cross hairs to see useful information, including peak name, height, distance from you, and also the difference in height from your current altitude.

Even if some peaks are behind others Peak Scanner still allows you to get details on them (shown in grey).

You'll find Peak Scanner a much better experience than other apps of this type:

- fast, smooth display
- no finger taps required - just point and get instant results!
- worldwide coverage (unlike other apps that make you pay for each country)
- does not require any mobile signal - all the peak data is inside the app

Peak Scanner includes data on over 500,000 mountain peaks all over the world. Whether you're in the Alps, the Lake District, or The Rockies, Peak Scanner is your ideal travel companion.

You'll never need to ask, "What's that mountain over there?" again.

Struggle to use when out and about

Although the peaks are there there are far too many crammed on the screen and therefore impossible to read or identify on phone when they are close together. Any slight movement and they scroll left and right so fast I cannot keep it still (except on a tripod). Sometimes the peaks are the correct ones for where I am but not synchronised with the compass so appear in the wrong place. A snapshot would be much better - taking a photo of the peaks and then the names added on . Maybe I'll try a screenshot but superimposing on a photo would be fantastic. I like the distance slider acts as a rough filter. Non U.K. Peaks would be good but bear in mind even google has some in the wrong place and some countries mapping leaves a lot to be desired.

A good app but room for improvement

Great App and works as it should. Will be perfect for finding hills when out walking!

Slightly disappointed after paying as still seems to show 23km max, even when set at full range. Thankfully a bit further then the OS Maps 15km range.

Agree with some others - be good if you could click the hill and open the OS Hill page or another site for information on the hill.

This is the one for me!

I’ve tried a few apps of this type and I have to say, this is the easiest and most effective to use. No need for any signal. Just take your phone out of your pocket and point! Seems to know all the mountains round me wherever I go. Very pleased!
