🚨 Mr. Minoru Takada from UN-DESA underscores a critical point: we're halfway to achieving the SDGs, but only 12% of targets are on track, with over 50% struggling or regressing. It’s time to intensify our efforts and showcase impactful actions. The Energy Compacts are pivotal in mobilizing global commitments for SDG7 and ensuring a fair transition to net zero. Let's act boldly to secure a sustainable future! 🌱 #EnergyCompacts #HLPF #SDG7

🏠 Household air pollution disproportionately impacts women and children. Did you know household smoke created by the lack of #cleancooking technologies and fuels leads to almost four million premature deaths each year, making it the world’s third-biggest cause of early mortality for women and children? A new article by The Economist reports the harmful effects of cooking with polluting stoves and fuels, noting that “Until the issue gets proper attention, millions of people will continue to die.” Adopting cleaner cooking technologies and supporting policies that promote their use can significantly improve public health and environmental sustainability. Read this article to learn more about this critical issue and why we are committed to achieving universal access to clean cooking: https://lnkd.in/e4yRHNNJ #SDG7 #CleanCooking

⚡ Energy efficiency measures present a vital opportunity to address #climatechange and mitigate the environmental impact of rising energy needs. #Ghana's growing population and rising temperatures have caused a surge in energy consumption, particularly for cooling. This increased demand strains the power supply and contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. In the first episode of SEforALL’s #EnergyTalks podcast, Michael Abrokwaa, SEforALL Energy Efficiency Country Coordinator for Ghana, and Hubert Zan, Assistant Manager at the Ghana Energy Commission, discuss Ghana's energy challenges and opportunities. They delve into minimum energy performance standards, appliance labelling, cultural and economic considerations, and regulations. 🎙️ Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Music today: https://lnkd.in/dKz89Q2Y #EnergyEfficientLife

🇲🇬 ANALYSIS | What are the main findings from our latest #Madagascar Integrated #EnergyAccess Planning analysis? 🔎 ⚡#Electrification: 19 million people, 2400 health clinics, and 23,000 schools lack #electricityaccess. Closing this gap requires over 9 million new connections, including 3000 #minigrid projects. 🍳 #CleanCooking: Nearly 25 million people rely on polluting cookstoves. Universal access requires the deployment of nearly 11 million modern stoves and a strong shift towards #ecooking and #bioethanol. 🧊 Cold Chains: Solar direct-drive technology is crucial for vaccine storage in #healthcare facilities with limited or no access to reliable electricity. Cooling technologies can also significantly reduce post-harvest food losses, enhancing food security and rural economies. 🔗 Explore the tool for more insights: https://lnkd.in/dUBcM3n8 The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP), The OPEC Fund for International Development.
