💡 TIPS FOR YOUR DONOR RESEARCH💡 Before you start your research, we recommend being very clear on the following points: ✔ Activities: Which activities and sectors do you need funding for? ✔ Countries and Regions: For which countries or regions do you require funds? ✔ Amounts: How much money do you need to raise? ✔ Donor Type: Which donor types are you considering (institutional donors, foundations, funds, UN agencies, banks, ...)? ✔ Donor Base: Where shall the donor be based (in Europe, in US, in DACH region, in Africa, in Asia, in one country only)? ✔ Exclusion: Which donors do you absolutely exclude (certain industries, certain countries, ...? ➡ Once you have these points sorted, the donor you are seeking becomes much clearer and distinct, enabling you to proceed with your search. Hosting our closing event with our FUNCAP partners in Sarajevo at the end of March was an absolute highlight for us 💛. Over the course of two years, we worked together to enhance their fundraising capabilities, supported by generous funding provided by Porticus. Through a series of trainings and personalized coaching sessions 💻 , we went through every step of the grant funding cycle, starting from donor research and identification, all the way through to cultivation, proposal writing, and ultimately, donor stewardship. What began as a group of strangers coming together for the first time in Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦 in 2022 blossomed into warm friendship forged through shared experiences and the highs and lows of the donor journey. Our deep affection for this wonderful country and its people will definitely remain 💛 . THANKS to all the participants and additional experts (Friedbert Ottacher Joy Morozov Raluca Verweijen-Slamnescu) who wholeheartedly engaged in this journey of growth and learning, as well as to Porticus for their unwavering support and belief in this pilot initiative.
