Bringing professional Tourist Guides together since 1985, WFTGA encourages standards in tourist guiding around the world. We offer short courses in guiding skills, as an introduction as well as arefresher, and training for Trainers of Tourist Guides. Over the years our non-profit, non-political organisation has grown its expert team of trainers and today our Training Division consists of 20 Lead International Trainers, 45 International Trainers and over 200 National Trainers. WFTGA is recognized as an NGO by UNESCO, is an affiliate member of UNWTO, and is consulted by committees dealing with European standards (CEN) and International standards (ISO). WFTGA represents Tourist Guides from over 100 countries, encouraging the qualification of Tourist Guides according to the definition (ISO 18513 /CEN 13908:2003): A Tourist Guide is a person who guides visitors in the language of their choice and interprets the cultural & natural heritage of an area, which person normally possesses an area-specific qualification usually issued and/or recognised by the appropriate authority. How can you benefit from WFTGA Training? 1. In-house courses – can be arranged in situ at different localities on request. So far, courses have been arranged at the request of UNWTO, UNESCO, GIZ, USAID, Ministries related to tourism as well as at request of our member Tourist Guides Associations. 2. WFTGA International Training Centres (Cyprus and Armenia) – open courses take place on a regular basis at our ITCs and are popular with individual guides from all over the world. 3. Blended learning - As a contingency, we offer courses with an online component in preparation for the practical training. However, our training ethos stipulates that a significant part of tourist guide training must be practical, face-to-face training. WFTGA also accredits courses in accordance with EN 15565:2008 ‘Tourism Services – Requirement for the provision of professional tourist guide training and qualification

  • WFTGA EXBO members ON THE MOVE. News Snippet: During her recent family vacation in Sabah, Malaysia, WFTGA ExBo member and appointed secretary Ivana Ćuruvija, had the opportunity to meet with colleagues from the Sabah Tourist Guide Association. Ivana and her family were privileged to be guided by WFTGA International Trainer Roger Rajah, the President of STGA, and WFTGA National Trainer, the Vice President of STGA, Grace Leong, learning about the great cultural heritage and natural treasures of Sabah, Borneo. Over the dinner hosted by STGA, Ivana talked with Roger, Grace and Rachel Yee, the treasurer of STGA, about guiding issues in Sabah and also about the future plans of the association, including the Trainers' Convention planned for February 2025. The WFTGA Secretary, together with Roger and Grace, also met with the CEO of the Sabah Tourism Board, Mr Julinus Jeffery Jimit, using the opportunity to talk about STGA future projects and the necessity of the support they need from the STB. "Sabah, Malaysia made an impression on me and my family, together with the amazing culture and preserved nature. We enjoyed our stay tasting different foods and immersing ourselves in various experiences. Travel to remember!" He helps tourist guides enhance their knowledge and skills to provide the best service to visitors and become true ambassadors for the places they represent. He achieves this by using active learning methods, allowing his students to immediately apply their knowledge in practice. Radosław specialises not only in tourist guiding but also in business skills within tourism, tourism marketing, and promoting a country or region as a tourist destination. He runs his own tourism company and shares his experience and best practices with students. Additionally, Radosław is a psychologist, an author of books on tourism, and an academic teacher. He works with students from all over the world and has delivered courses and workshops in Poland, Greece, Ireland, the UK, Iran, and Bahrain. 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲? I guide in Warsaw, Poland. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴? It's incredibly rewarding to help others start their careers in tourism or to improve the guiding skills of those with experience. I enjoy showing different approaches to guiding, helping participants discover their unique guiding style, and creating an atmosphere that makes each minute of training enjoyable. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿? To teach guiding techniques effectively, you must practice being a tourist guide yourself. The world is constantly changing, and our visitors' expectations, values, and behaviours evolve. To be a good trainer, it's essential to stay updated with the latest guiding practices. This allows me to share real-life examples, stories, and situations during training, which is what students appreciate most. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲?
