Do you know the benefits of regularly engaging in mindfulness practices? Mindfulness is defined as “a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique” (Oxford Dictionary). There are numerous benefits to regularly practicing #mindfulness including: * Reducing Stress. When we shift into a parasympathetic state, our heart rate slows down, our breathing becomes more relaxed, and digestion is promoted. * Improving our emotional regulation and increasing our emotional intelligence. They help us pause and reflect before reacting automatically to situations. * Enhancing our focus and concentration. Practices like meditation retrain our minds to center attention on the present moment. By focusing on our breathing or the sounds around us, we strengthen our ability to concentrate deeply For today’s #WellbeingWednesday we encourage you complete The Five Senses Mindfulness Activity shared by our Workplace Wellbeing Consultant Amy Stuart. This activity requires no preparation, and can easily be completed at anytime throughout your day. Let us know in the comments below about how beneficial you found this activity today. #mindfulness #WellbeingWednesday #anxiety #productiving #stressreduction #emotionalintelligence

Winter blues got you down? Seasonal depression, properly known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), is real and affects many. Here are some tips to help you manage: Get Light Exposure: Spend time outdoors or use a light therapy box to mimic natural sunlight. This can help regulate your mood and energy levels. Stay Active: Regular exercise boosts your mood and energy. Even a brisk walk can make a big difference. Stay Social: Connect with friends and family to combat loneliness. Social interactions are crucial for maintaining mental health. Healthy Diet: Eat a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals. Foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as fish and nuts, can be particularly beneficial. Establish a Routine: Maintaining a regular schedule for sleep, meals, and activities can help stabilise your mood. Seek Professional Help: Don’t hesitate to talk to a mental health professional if you’re struggling. Professional support can provide valuable coping strategies. Remember, it's okay to seek help and take steps to improve your mental health. Stay warm, stay active, and take care of yourself! #MentalHealth #SeasonalDepression #WinterBlues #SelfCare #StayPositive #WellnessTips

This week is NAIDOC Week! NAIDOC Week is a time to acknowledge, celebrate, and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is a time for all Australians – First Nations peoples and non-indigenous – to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait cultures and histories. Each year, NAIDOC choose a theme that aligns with current issues and concerns prevalent in the community. This year’s theme is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud, which celebrates the unyielding spirit of First Nations people and asks us to amplify the voices that have long been silenced. Celebrate the week by attending events in your local area and keep the Fire Burning - Blak, Loud and Proud! #NAIDOC2024
