➖ Rising asthma-related deaths ➖ Australia is in the midst of an asthma crisis - recent data has revealed surge in asthma-related deaths in Australia, reaching the highest rate in a decade, and disproportionately affecting women and Indigenous communities. This alarming trend highlights the critical need for innovative solutions to improve asthma management and prevent further casualties. According to Nigel Cooper, director of Programs and Partnerships with Asthma Australia, 467 people died from asthma in 2022. Here's an excerpt from the article: 'Almost two thirds of those deaths were women. Last year's figures have not been released but Mr Cooper said the 2022 data was the highest asthma casualty rate in Australia in a decade and more than 30 per cent higher than the number of deaths nationally in 2021.' Adherium (ASX:ADR) has today released its Quarterly Report & 4C for the period ending 30 June 2024.    Key highlights for the period include:     ✅ Successful capital raise of $8.37m with participation from Directors,  Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and major shareholders.  ✅ AstraZeneca selected Adherium’s Smartinhaler technology to support $1.1M clinical trial.   ✅ Landmark partnerships secured with Valued Relationships Inc. Norah, age 10, from Western Park in Leicester is one of the first children recruited to the NHS funded study of the Hailie® digital inhaler. She has struggled with asthma since being diagnosed at age 5. Mum Hayley comments: “I’m really pleased that Norah is on this trial as I want it to help her while also benefitting other children with asthma who may get Smart Inhalers in the future, if this trial is successful. Norah is such a sporty little girl, who is so full of life. Dr Erol Gaillard at the University of Leicester and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is leading a new NHS funded study of Adherium’s Hailie® digital inhaler. The study in Leicester will find out whether the use of Hailie® will prevent children aged 5-16 with high-risk asthma from having flare-ups (or asthma attacks), which put 21,000 children in the UK into A&E each year.
