Fixing your failing pump piping doesn’t have to be complicated. There are 4 common piping issues that create the most work. - 1. Excessive pipe wear 2. Vibration damaging pumps and other equipment 3. Pump piping that’s hard to install 4. Leaking couplings and end connections Fix these 4 issues, and it will pay off with improved reliability and uptime. Read the article to learn how to avoid these issues in your plant: https://hubs.li/Q02L-VgW0 #mineralprocessing #processengineering #mining

Roy Hill’s maintenance team has eliminated their slurry pump piping maintenance with one simple change. - The team previously used two rubber-lined steel spools—a straight spool and a reducer—with a flexible coupling to connect the pump and adjoining pipework. This set-up amplified pump vibration and caused the pipes to misalign and leak. Slurry would build up underneath and make the plant floor slippery. The new arrangement uses a single Slurryflex CLX ceramic-lined mining hose reducer. It’s one piece instead of three. This one simple change to slurry pump pipework ticks all these boxes: ✅ Longer wear life ✅ Reduced install time ✅ Improved safety ✅ Reduced inventory Not only has it doubled the lifespan of the pipework around the pump, but it has dampened pump vibration and made pump maintenance much easier. #ironore #mineralprocessing #miningnews #processengineering

Here's why the Roy Hill engineering team have stopped using rubber lined steel elbows in their desands plant. - In 2021, the team was looking for alternatives to rubber-lined steel elbows after years of frustration from misaligned, fast-wearing piping. They wanted pipework that would last longer and could withstand the coarse, highly turbulent iron ore slurry. We suggested ceramic-lined mining hose for this purpose. It offers strong abrasion resistance combined with the impact absorption and dispersion benefits of mining hose. The team decided on pre-formed Slurryflex CLX bends with tiles embedded 360° in the pipe. This is an excellent option for turbulent slurry applications because it provides wear resistance through the entire hose. Three years on, the hoses are still in place and going strong. That’s three years of no leaks, bandaging or lost production time. Stop making work for you and your team. Ditch the rubber spools and swap to a better option. #mining #mineralprocessing #ironore #processengineering

Here's how the reliability team at Ma‘aden Barrick Copper Company achieved 8x longer wear life on their ball mill feed line piping. - The team contacted us to see if we could help with high wear from abrasive slurry in their ball mill feed piping. Nothing they’d trialled—HDPE, rubber-lined steel, or standard mining hose—lasted longer than three months. In this area of the plant, you need piping that can absorb impact wear and withstand abrasive slurry. That’s why they decided to trial a Slurryflex CLX ceramic lined hose. It's flexible and can absorb impact from high velocity slurry. The alumina ceramic tiles embedded in the liner reduce wear from abrasive particles. We custom manufactured a DN400 Slurryflex bend for the team to trial. Since installation, it’s outperformed the previous alternatives by 800%. It’s worked so well that they’re now using it in other high-wear areas of the plant. #australianmanufacturing #copper #miningengineering #miningtechnology #reliabilityengineering

Using rubber lined steel piping on high impact bends? It’s a big mistake. At FMG’s Solomon mine, a steel spool on a gravity fed line was constantly blowing out. A simple switch to a flexible Slurryflex mining hose bend was an easy way to fix the problem. Mining hose works particularly well on gravity fed bends where abrasive slurry travels at high velocity as it changes direction. They chose a Slurryflex SC-Series mining hose in this application because it better absorbs impact and vibration and the Grade A rubber liner provides excellent wear resistance. In this video, you can see it in action with turbulent slurry being fed from above. It’s a simple reliability fix that reduces maintenance.

These valves had to be custom built for highly demanding slurry. Here’s why: - They are being used in an expansion project at a WA rare earth mine. The site’s corrosive conditions are tough on piping – both inside and out. The slurry fluid is highly acidic. Outside the pipework, acidic spatter chews through piping, valves, and instrumentation. That’s why our valve technicians custom built these butterfly valves. Every part – the valve, actuator, and limit switch box – is stainless steel. All 26 valves were assembled and tested in our Perth workshop and are on their way to site, ready for installation. We’re confident they are up to the challenge of whatever is thrown – or splattered - at them. #mining #miningnews #processengineering
