About us

BlaQ Aboriginal Corporation was established as a collective response to the identified need for strengthened visibility of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTQ+ community. • Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2024: “Blak, Loud and Proud This NAIDOC Week, we honour the unyielding spirit of our First Nations communities and especially celebrate our Rainbow Mob The fire of our cultures has burned brightly through generations, despite countless challenges. It connects us to the land, each other, and the traditions that define our unique heritage. As we gather around this sacred flame, we kindle pride and unity, reaffirming our commitment to honouring and sharing our rich cultural heritage. This year's theme, "Blak, Loud and Proud," calls us to stand unapologetically tall in our identity, embracing our heritage and asserting our place in today's world. It is a call to reclaim our narratives, amplify our voices, and commit unwaveringly to justice and equality. Let's come together, listen, learn, and foster meaningful dialogue. Together, we can ensure that the wisdom, stories, and achievements of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including our Rainbow Mob brothers and sisters are celebrated and cherished, enriching the fabric of this land. #NAIDOC2024 #NAIDOCWeek #BlakLoudProud

  • Celebrating Mabo Day “What is on the land, what is below the land, what is in the sea and what is under sea belongs to my people” – Mr Eddie Koiki Mabo Today, we honour Eddie Koiki Mabo and his tireless fight for Indigenous land rights in Australia. On June 3, 1992, the landmark High Court decision recognised the Meriam people's traditional land rights, overturning the Terra Nullius doctrine. Let us reflect on this historic victory and continue the journey towards justice and reconciliation. 💚🖤💙🤍 Artwork by Olaf Hajek, Time Magazine, 2020.
