Introducing Tim Butcher, our Engineering Manager at Bruce Energy, whose expansive 25-year career in mechanical engineering has made a profound impact across power generation, utility steam generation, mining, and wastewater industries. Tim joined us initially as a contractor, lending his expertise to the Organic Carbonisation System (OCS) test reactor project. His role has since evolved to oversee site supervision, project engineering, and the scaling of projects for commercialisation. In 2023, Tim stepped into his current role as Engineering Manager, spearheading our engineering team with a focus on mentoring and process development. Tim's previous experiences include a significant tenure as Senior Mechanical Engineer at Advisian - Worley Group, where he was involved in key projects like the Liddell Solar Project and Vast Solar’s Solar Thermal Plant. His early career at ALSTOM Power and Kilpatrick Green fortified his expertise in power industry projects across Australia and internationally. Tim’s deep expertise and steady leadership make him a powerhouse in our team. We're excited to highlight our ongoing collaboration with Waste Circology since 2020, focused on revolutionising waste management. Their patented Organic Carbonisation System (OCS) is a groundbreaking closed, low emission process that converts organic waste into rich char-carbon. Bruce Energy has played a pivotal role in designing and constructing the first-ever OCS100 Test Reactor, utilising cost-effective, off-the-shelf components to ensure efficiency and reduced project risk. The Client: Green Gravity - Transforming disused mines in Australia and internationally into energy storage hubs. The Project: The Gravity Lab™, a specialised research facility developed in Port Kembla NSW in partnership with BlueScope Steel, focusing on gravitational energy storage systems. Our Role: Bruce Energy provided expertise in conceptual design, cost estimation, and managed the project's execution from procurement to commissioning.
