Team members from our Resource and Environmental Regulation Group Ikae B. Pat Boss and Emily Cross were in Melbourne last week for Carbon Capture APAC 2024. Our very own Senior Geologist Julie Cass from Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) took part in an engaging panel discussion about the strategic approaches to stimulate carbon storage. As the department starts developing the supporting regulations for the Petroleum Legislation Amendment Act 2024, it was an opportune time to meet with key stakeholders, including research organisation CO2CRC Limited, Mitsubishi Corporation and National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA). ☕️🎉 In the vibrant and diverse city of Melbourne, filled with the rich aroma of coffee, we embarked on an exhilarating week-long journey focused on clean energy. Starting on Tuesday with Carbon Capture APAC 2024, we were inspired by insights from markets such as Australia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Norway, with invaluable contributions from industry giants like Chevron, Shell, Woodside Energy, and PETRONAS. Our visit to CSIRO Clayton on Tuesday was also very enlightening. Wednesday marked the opening day of Australia Wind Energy 2024 and Connecting Green Hydrogen APAC 2024. The events kicked off with a warm Welcome to Country by Wurundjeri Elder Perry Wandin and Ganga Giri. A massive thank you to our Major Sponsors & Partners: RWE, Iberdrola Australia, Equinor, Stanwell Corporation Limited, Fortescue, POSCO, Marubeni Corporation, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. In collaboration with the Pilbara Development Commission, Latrobe Valley Authority, Committee for the Hunter, and Origin Energy, we organized The Regional Development Forum, which outlined an ambitious blueprint for Australia's regional #wind and #hydrogen industries, showcasing star regions and pioneering projects in Australia's clean energy transition. Wednesday evening, we hosted the spectacular “Sustainability & Diversity Night.” We were honored to have Hon Lily D’Ambrosio MP, Minister for Climate Action; Energy and Resources; State Electricity Commission, Victorian Government, lead an insightful discussion on Navigating the Path to Net Zero. Our event Clean Energy Accelerator, Mary Barry, and Erin Coldham highlighted the importance of promoting diversity within Australia's clean energy workforce. Paul Medwell, Professor at University of Adelaide, and Ryan Nguyen, Vice President of Monash Energy Club, celebrated the champions of Youth Energy Competition. We extend our heartfelt greetings and deep appreciation to the country pavilions and delegations from Japan, Korea, Norway, Denmark, the UK, India, Ireland, the Netherlands, and many others who joined us. We also express our sincere gratitude to Invest Victoria for their hosting and unwavering support. There are countless others to thank for your incredible support and active participation in driving the industry forward. Thank you all for making this journey remarkable.
