Last Friday night we had the privilege of hosting a special Volunteer Sundowner and bringing our volunteers together to celebrate 60 fantastic years of Dowerin Machinery Field Days. It was also an honour to cut the ribbon and officially open the new hockey shed. This much-wanted facility is a welcome addition to our community, adding vibrancy to the area and supporting broader community wellbeing initiatives, which are vitally important in regional communities. Built by the leading steel frame construction company AUSPAN GROUP, the new hockey shed was made possible through the generous funding of the Dowerin Machinery Field Days, the support of our sponsor AUSPAN GROUP, and grants from the Shire of Dowerin and CBH Group. Additionally, the Hockey Club raised their contribution to the project through years of volunteering for the Field Days, and we are grateful to local heroes like Holberton Earthmoving and Harris Electrical Servicing for gifting their time. This hockey shed stands as a testament to the power of teamwork and collaboration, reminding us that we are all part of Team Wheatbelt. We’re excited about the positive impact this infrastructure will have on our community, both now and in the future. This isn’t just about a building—it’s about how the Field Days can create greater opportunities for WA's agricultural sector and the amazing people behind it. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.

CBH Group CEO Ben Macnamara and COO Mick Daw were invited to visit CRRC Meishan in Meishan, China last week to inspect the first prototype grain hopper wagons being manufactured for the co-operative. CRRC Meishan Chairman of the Board Mr Hu Haibin welcomed CBH representatives for an unveiling of the wagons and took CBH representatives for a tour of the production facilities and workshops. CRRC Meishan is a leader in the development and manufacture of rail freight equipment and has exported more than 10,000 railway freight cars to more than 50 countries since 1989. Rail is an important part of CBH’s supply chain and CRRC Meishan is delivering 650 new grain hopper wagons to help us expand our rail fleet, enabling us to be able to move more grain tonnes to our customers when they need it. Thank you to the team at CRRC Meishan for hosting CBH and showcasing the state-of-art facilities, skills and expertise of your company.

Community is crucial.  2024 marks a decade of CBH’s Grass Roots Community Grants program, which was created to support the unique needs of WA growers’ local community.  During that time, the program has invested nearly $3 million, supporting 927 community events and projects across grain growing WA.  We believe every small-scale infrastructure project and community event show the passion of regional people. We all know that WA grain growing communities are made up of dedicated, caring and inspiring people who have an unwavering commitment to their communities.  As a co-op, we’re proud to be working together to strengthen regional communities for future generations.  10 years of Grass Roots Grants... that’s something to celebrate 🎊
