The Clean Energy Council welcomes the measures outlined in the Energy and Climate Change Ministerial Council’s (ECMC) National Consumer Energy Resources Roadmap, released today, to support the uptake of rooftop solar, home batteries and other clean energy technologies https://zurl.co/v0xT As we recommended in our own Consumer Energy Resources Roadmap released in early June https://zurl.co/P0rB , the ECMC document includes key measures to extend consumer protections, improve education and enable consumers to get more value from their solar and batteries by trading with the grid. Importantly, there are measures to move towards nationally consistent standards and regulation, reducing the burden of confusion and red-tape for industry. Meeting ambitious targets for rooftop solar and home batteries can create savings of more than $22bn and lower energy bills for all Australians. This Roadmap will help us get closer to that goal. But we must also back the next phase of electrification. Only strong national and state rebates can trigger a rapid adoption of home batteries, delivering real cuts to energy bills and emissions. Tomorrow, the Energy and Climate Change Ministerial Council (ECMC) will release their Consumer Energy Resources Roadmap, outlining reforms to support the uptake of rooftop solar, home batteries and other clean energy technologies. It’s a critical strategic document for the industry’s future. The Clean Energy Council’s National Consumer Energy Resources Roadmap ‘Powering Homes, Empowering People’ shows that a national strategy could help deliver: • Over $22 billion in savings for Australian taxpayers. • Lower energy bills for all Australians of $35-71 per year, regardless of whether they have any solar or battery. • Up to 3.8m more homes and businesses with orchestrated batteries, with much larger bill savings. • 18,200 additional jobs in manufacturing, sales and installation of CER in Australia. Ahead of the release of the ECMC’s Roadmap, view our 16 key policy recommendations to accelerate rooftop solar and home batteries here https://zurl.co/FVC0

The Clean Energy Council is a proud signatory of today’s statement by business, investor, industry, social, community and environment groups, on the need for climate and energy policy certainty.  The statement points to the urgent heavy lifting required this decade to upgrade and extend our electricity systems and stay the course on delivering the least cost pathway to replacing ageing and increasingly unreliable coal fired power generation.  For that to continue, the commitment of governments, regulators and stakeholders to a credible and consistent energy framework is essential to attract finance at the lowest cost of capital and enable all our sectors to efficiently plan, resource and deliver a timely transition to net zero emissions.   The statement was issued ahead of the Energy and Climate Change Ministerial Council: https://lnkd.in/gapkiRRY

The final afternoon of the #AustralianCleanEnergySummit2024 at the International Convention Centre in Sydney saw lively discussion about Australia's energy future continue, with the 'Renewables ready market' panel discussion being a major highlight.   Chaired by Lillian Patterson and featuring James Katsikas, Tobias Geiger and Tim Nelson, this panel explored some of the trends and challenges facing investment in market systems in electricity grids, as well as the role of market mechanisms in guaranteeing consistent supply at minimal costs with more renewables coming online.   Offshore wind, Australia's green hydrogen potential and our national rooftop solar success story were among the other sessions drawing the event to a strong close.   #cleanenergy #ACES2024 #renewableenergy

Former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull delivered his keynote address at the #AustralianCleanEnergySummit2024. He emphasised the imperative of integrating more intermediate and long-duration energy storage technologies into the National Electricity Market as more renewable generation comes online, saying that "intermediate and long duration storage provides a vital public service. "It's been described as a public good and lowers the variable renewable energy costs through reduced curtailment." The 'Value streams for large-scale storage' panel, chaired by Dennis Freedman and featuring Jon Norman, Paul Curnow, Megan Ward and Ian Brooksbank, also explored emerging trends in value stacking and how these can be optimised for a timely energy transition. #ACES2024 #cleanenergy #renewableenergy

With Australia’s energy transition in full swing and industry working around the clock to meet our climate and energy targets, the mental health and wellbeing of our clean energy workforce has never been more important. Day two of the #AustralianCleanEnergySummit2024 has started with an in-depth discussion at the ‘Wellbeing and the clean energy revolution’ breakfast presentation, sponsored by RES Australia. Our Chief Executive Kane Thornton, as well as panel chair Anna Collyer, Rachel Watson and Andy McCarthy, shared their insights into the progress of Australia’s #cleanenergy transformation and managing #wellbeing in a high-stakes environment as industry leaders. As Kane put it, “there’s an array of people looking to have real conversations about how they are. A few simple questions can break stigmas and fundamentally change the way we talk about our wellbeing.” #renewableenergy #ACES2024
