About us

Partnering with organisations to support change, transformations and adaptive capability + individuals for change leadership mentoring and brain-based coaching. With over 25 years of hands-on, multi-industry, and global experience in change, transformation, and people leadership, I've led change in start-ups to Fortune 500's. My expertise has been instrumental in guiding organisations towards contemporary ways of working, instilling confidence in their leadership and adaptability. Spanning people, culture, CX, risk, and OD — with the addition of tech nous and deep experience across digital, data, platforms, and new-emerging tech. Taking organisations and change into the future of work 🚀 Driving for working, change, leading, and learning to be more brain-friendly and more effective: - I believe that to enable successful change, navigate complex challenges, and effectively lead teams, we must first understand how humans tick and our behavioural tendencies. We must also design for change with this in mind and consider the broader system that sets the scene for the organisations and cultures in which we work. This is why i'm so passionate about leveraging evidence-based, human- centric, brain-friendly approaches for change, leading and learning - and pragmatic, contextual and adaptive approaches in taking strategy to action. I'm just as passionate about helping people achieve their personal, career and business goals through mentoring and coaching, → Pragmatic in approach → Collaborative in design → Congruent in leadership → With advanced practiced experience in creating and taking strategy to action and achieving CMROI → Underpinned by principles of applied neuroscience, behavioural science for change, HCD, systems thinking —and a solid understanding of psychosocial hazards and risk. ⚡️Catch me where minds meet momentum? visit: www.collabwise.com.au 🧠 Join the brain-friendly change course ✍🏼 Follow my musings @ #BrainsOnChange

Global Change & Transformation Leader | Enablement, Capability, Agility | Applied Neuroscience in Change, Leadership, Learning & Performance | People, Tech, Business | Mentor & Coach | Musings @ BrainsOnChange

I'd like to share a foundational insight into "the brain behind change." Our brain is highly adaptive (thanks to neuroplasticity), but it's also like a cautious explorer, checking to see if it's safe to change 🔎 This is because the brain's primary function is SURVIVAL (not thinking). 🧠 It seeks out situations that feel safe and rewarding.  🧠 It avoids situations that feel threatening and risky. 🐯 While sabre-toothed tigers might no longer be chasing us, and contexts in the modern world differ, our brain still runs on the SAME evolutionary efficiency. So, when it comes to the impact on change, presenting it based on logic alone may not be enough. We delve deeper into this understanding in the new Brain-Friendly Change course, that I had the honour of co-creating with the Agile Change Leadership Institute. The course explores the brain's FOUR key organising principles and offers multiple change actions for each, providing a guide on how to design for change with our brain's preferences in mind (and this just scratches the surface on how we help you turn applied neuroscience concepts into effective, practical action and brain-friendly change experiences). If you haven't already, click the link below to learn more about designing for change with the brain in mind 🧠 Take me to the course ▶ ▶ https://lnkd.in/guQgrRV2

🎉 Our latest course Brain-Friendly Change is live. I have ‘all the feels!!’ Seriously, I am SO proud of being part of a team that has produced a totally unique course that is SO ON POINT for the work environment. This will make such a difference for change practitioners AND leaders AND the people who are recipients of change. I am thrilled with how the course morphed and iterated based on our 40 Early Bird participants feedback – truly an example of how co-design improves quality. We took our own medicine with respect to Agile product development. I ❤️ that we are closing the Knowing – Gap with our incredible limited offer of a personal review of your own Brain-Friendly Change approach after you complete the course. I am in awe of the value we have created with roadmaps, 88 practices, 22 downloadable resources, and curated reading. This is a course you will keep returning to! And most of all I have such deep admiration for Lena Ross and Michelle Teunis. My role has been product owner / producer and they both have responded with such grace, humour, and enthusiasm to every request to make this the best course it can be! Over to you. The power of connection and the difference between empathy and sympathy. Topics that are important to all aspects of life, especially the part where we spend a lot of our effort and waking hours (work) —where positive #SocialConnection fuels enjoyment, wellbeing and also performance. This is a beautiful animated story, narrated by none other than Brené Brown. Hope it resonates and sparks insight: https://vimeo.com/81492863 #BrainsOnChange 🧠

Keegan and Lahey (co-founders of Minds at Work, and authors of the famous book and Harvard paper on "Immunity to Change"), have hit the nail on the head with this explanation on change resistance. "Resistance to change isn’t about stubbornness. It's a deeper psychological phenomenon where our own unconscious beliefs and commitments can act like an immune system, protecting us from the 'perceived dangers' of change". Change practitioners, have you assessed your own immunity to change? It’s a great tool to help get to know yourself better and gain a deeper empathy for others. Check out the immunity X-Ray here: https://lnkd.in/gJq5yds4 You can use this for yourself and in an organisational context. SN: the term "resistance" is simply a term for an array of behaviours where people are avoiding change and I use the term for educational purposes (rather than going into x different explanations and terms). I encourage you to use what term resonates with you. #BrainsOnChange 🧠

"In order to design a future of positive change, we must first become experts at changing our minds." - Jacque Fresco, futurist. This resonates on many levels and can apply to both personal and organisational change. To change and grow, we need to be exposed and open to varying perspectives, know how to work with our very natural threat responses to them and sift through what's helpful vs. what's interesting. As well as practice questioning our own predictions, remembering that the brain makes predictions based on past experiences, biases, even ingrained habits. If we don't practice observation, don't expose ourselves (to the discomfort of) varying perspectives, or question our own predictions, our mental models can be impeded. And this takes repetition. #BrainsOnChange 🧠

Just some of the reasons our brain is an energy conservationist, and a prediction organ (and why it's good to consider these organising principles when it comes to change). - the brain is ~2% of bodyweight, yet takes a whopping ~ 20% of metabolic energy - our nervous system and brain loves all things reflexive (automatic) - this is to help keep our body in allostasis (balanced, with flexibility) - also to help us respond to danger (survival), and for more complex thinking and tasks - change is deliberate over reflexive in nature Hence, why it's ideal to also be deliberate about designing for change with how we tick, in mind. #BrainsOnChange 🧠 #HumanCentricChange #AppliedNeuroscience
