CSBP’s Prill & ANE Process Lead, Andrew Brady and Product Support Engineer, Ammonium Nitrate, Michael R. were awarded for their Innovation at Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers Thanks Awards. As part of the Mining Solutions Team, Andrew and Michael created ANE’s new Spinifex 70 series range, which allows customers to customise their ANE for performance or cost. It provides significant cost savings and gives CSBP a clear marketing advantage. The range uses much less fuel than the previous version and has been formulated to significantly reduce scope 1 emissions for customers and scope 3 emissions for WesCEF. This innovative solution could also be the lowest carbon intensive ANE produced in the world, subject to classification. Both Andrew and Michael note the Thanks Award is wonderful recognition and acknowledgement for all their hard work. For Michael, WesCEF’s flexibility, autonomy and leadership that contributes to a supportive workplace and fosters bottom-up ideas and innovation is invaluable. “It takes time to develop solutions and innovate and it’s great that we have the support of the business to spend dedicated time on complex problem solving,” Michael said. “I really enjoy being able to work with other departments, as well as engage directly with customers, to better understand problems, needs and wants and develop innovative solutions that benefit all.” Andrew adds that it is great to work for a dynamic company that looks to continually change and improve the way it does things and is large enough to have a positive impact on society. “Innovation is crucial to everything we to do progress as a business. If you’re not improving yourself and what you do, then you end up going backwards as others move past you,” Andrew said “It’s so rewarding to see your idea developed for the marketplace and be considered a market leader in its performance.” Congratulations Andrew and Michael and keep coming up with those innovative ideas! #wescefthanks #innovation #rewardandrecognition

The Federal Government has announced that CSBP will receive a grant of $7.5 million from the Federal Government to help accelerate our transition to Net Zero. The grant, awarded through the Powering the Regions Fund, will be used to install a low emission waste gas incinerator at AGR’s (CSBP’s (75%) JV with Coogee (25%)) sodium cyanide plant. The installation of this new incinerator will significantly cut nitrous oxide emissions in AGR’s sodium cyanide production. To read more, visit https://lnkd.in/ghNnsinC

It’s been a big year for CSBP’s Ammonia/Ammonium Nitrate Permit Co-ordinator, David Ainslie. Not only had he reached his 30 year milestone with the business, but he was also awarded for the value of Customer Focus at our 2023 Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers Thanks Awards. The award recognised his commitment, accountability and customer focus when completing major and module shutdowns, managing both people and the plant safely. It was noted that David’s commitment to future planned shutdowns allows operations teams to focus on running the plants, and contractors have commented that working with David gives them confidence in the safety of each task they complete. For David, customer focus is something that just comes naturally as part of the job. “The best part of my role is interacting with various work groups and making them feel welcome and respected, while still maintaining a strong focus on safety,” David said. “Customer focus is massive for me and I believe in creating a culture that is welcoming, builds relationships, and makes people feel you are open to helping them and they are not alone. “I’ve been with WesCEF since 1993 and have always felt like it is one big family and I like to try to add to that in my own way. Whether that’s through having a little banter to having more serious chats, it has all been an amazing journey for me and one I will continue to build on.” Congratulations David on both your 30 years with WesCEF and your well-deserved award! #rewardandrecognition #WesCEFThanks

CSBP Fertiliser’s Esperance Operations Supervisor, Niccole Cooper, was recently recognised for the value of Safety at our 2023 #WesCEFThanks Awards.   Niccole is accountable for all aspects of environmental management at the CSBP Fertilisers Esperance site. During a recent environmental hazard and housekeeping audit, Niccole worked with the auditor to not only demonstrate a culture of learning and collaboration to deliver great environmental outcomes, but a high level of accountability for environmental compliance.   Despite the team being severely short staffed over the past year, Niccole ensured they remained uncompromising in their standards and continued to drive a strong culture of environmental management performance.   For Niccole, who has only been with CSBP for 2 years, it’s the collaborative and inclusive approach across the business that makes a real difference.   “I am yet to meet someone within WesCEF who isn’t happy to help you out,” Niccole said.   “As a mother of four children, safety means going home to them every night and ensuring that my staff go home safely to their loved ones too.   “I often hear it takes longer to do the paperwork than the task itself, but it’s the process behind completing the paperwork – all the thought and planning that goes into it – that keeps people safe at the end of the day.   “This award is a nice way to hear the positive effects your actions can have on those around you just by doing your best at work.”   Congratulations on your award Niccole! #WesCEFThanks #rewardandrecognition

The team behind CSBP Sodium Cyanide’s AVEVA PI PoC project was recently recognised at Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers 2023 Thanks Awards for their innovative work in introducing new technology into existing asset monitoring processes for the cyanide reverse osmosis plant and ammonia cooling water system. For Operations Technology and OT Cyber Manager, Michael Dorn, collaborating with other team members is a highlight of the job. “It was a great for the team to be recognised for our work on this project and to know that it has a direct impact on the company and the people within it,” Michael said. “Being able to operate in a multi-disciplinary team with diverse skills brings different perspectives and inputs to any given problem and ensures stronger outcomes “We are lucky that WesCEF is supportive of initiatives that provide improvement, even if it’s something that hasn’t been tried before.” Fellow team member, Daniel Zabek adds that the award was a surprise, made all the more special by winning as part of a team. “There’s a special camaraderie in achieving something collectively. The shared success goes beyond individual accomplishments and reinforces the power of teamwork,” Daniel said. “Innovation is something actively encouraged at WesCEF and, for me, that means challenging the status quo and actively seeking alternatives that better align with our desired state. “It’s a dynamic force that has the capacity to leave a lasting impact and fosters continuous improvement and evolution in both personal and professional spheres,” Daniel said. Well done team! There’s no doubt your work on this project will make a lasting impact on the business for many years to come. #WesCEFThanks #rewardandrecognition

Innovation is one of Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers core values and the development of CSBP's Urea Sustain product is a prime example of just how innovative our people can be.   The team behind this product were recognised at the 2023 WesCEF Thanks Awards for their innovation and efforts in championing and driving the launch of Urea Sustain into the WA market.   The product is set to deliver substantial logistical and nutrient use efficiency improvements to WA growers, helping to drive improved profitability and a lower emissions intensity of crop production.   For CSBP Senior Product Manager, Mark Robinson, innovation is about constant and never-ending improvement.   “It’s a pleasure to work with a team of passionate, supportive, customer-centric problem solvers who hold each other to a high standard,” he said.   “Seeing the team recognised for their efforts and contributions to the business through winning this award was a very gratifying experience. The added challenge of a tight deadline, coupled with having to navigate a few setbacks along the way, certainly made this achievement even more rewarding.   “The project not only delivers significant value to both our customers and the business, but also plays a role in reducing the carbon intensity of one of our key products.”   Well done team!

One group who knows a thing or two about integrity is CSBP's Upskilling Process Technicians Team. Comprised of Process Group Leaders Dahnt Cleveland, Robert Tee, Torben Dargatz and Ted Wright, the team was recently recognised as Integrity champions in the 2023 WesCEF Thanks Awards for their work in delivering a strategic program to improve the skill level across the process technician group. The program itself was large, complex, time consuming and, at times, frustrating and involved making significant cultural shifts in personal accountability and expectations. However, thanks to the heavy lifting undertaken by the team to get people on courses, make time for others to do online activities, forward plan upcoming expectations, and coach and assist others through the various components and modules, the end result has been both substantial and meaningful. Dahnt Cleveland notes that the award was a nice acknowledgement of all the time and hard work put in over a long period of time in developing people and procedures. “For me, one of the best things about the job is seeing new trainees develop into good operators and I enjoy the process challenges that come with the role.” Torben Dargatz agrees and notes that having integrity is an important part of the role of Group Leader. “Being honest and transparent with what and how you do things helps to build trust and openness within your team, as well as making things fair and equitable so that no one feels disadvantaged,” Torben said. “One of the things I’ve always enjoyed most about working at WesCEF is the opportunities to grow and further your career. It’s pleasing to see that the shift in focus to more operator training is really starting to pay off and will set the business up for future success.” Well done to the team on their award! #wescefthanks #rewardandrecognition

Principal Integrity Engineer, Rohan Mazalkar, and Graduate Mechanical Engineer, Delight Mwenje’s recognition for their collaborative efforts at our 2023 Thanks Awards certainly showed how working hand in glove as one team can achieve greater outcomes. Rohan and Delight worked on the assessment and repair of CSBP Sodium Cyanide Tank 3, which saw a leaking tank go from below 45% capacity back to 100%. Rohan was instrumental in the continual assessment and repair of the tank, while Delight oversaw 6,000+ hours of labour, the application of over 3 tonnes of composite, non-destructive testing of 13% of the tank’s surface, and installation of 26 tonnes of scaffold. For Rohan, this is the second year in a row he has received a Thanks Award for his contributions to the business. “I felt truly honoured to receive a Thanks Award again this year and am grateful for the opportunities my role gives me to be able to work with various WesCEF businesses and help solve their complex operational problems,” Rohan said. “For me, collaboration definitely improves work quality, as team members are able to share, combine and improve ideas to deliver high-quality work.” Delight, who first joined WesCEF as a Graduate in 2022 after being part of the 2021/2022 vacation program, adds that it’s great working with people who are passionate about what they do. “I’ve been lucky enough to work with incredible individuals who are open to sharing their knowledge and creating a supportive environment that allows me to grow and learn,” Delight said. “It’s wonderful to be recognised with this award, but it is really a thank you to all of those who dedicated their time and expertise into carrying out this repair. “It wouldn’t have been possible without a lot of people collaborating together and contributing their piece to the puzzle to bring this project to a successful completion.” Congratulations Rohan and Delight! #wescefthanks #rewardandrecognition
