Freightliner customers can enjoy complimentary TruckTraining product training with every Cascadia model sold. The program is delivered by the same TruckTraining team that provides training for Mercedes-Benz Trucks and select Fuso models. The Freightliner Cascadia introduced new technology into the conventional truck class in Australia in 2019, including a raft of features to help customers save fuel and improve their bottom line. Daimler Truck Sales, Marketing and Operations Vice President, Andrew Assimo, says Freightliner customers benefit from the complimentary training offering. “We are proud to offer the TruckTraining service to our customers because we know it translates into real-world savings,” Mr Assimo says. “Actros and Shogun customers have told us that they see improvements after our team has spent some time with their drivers, so we are thrilled that Cascadia customers will be able to realise the same benefits,” he adds. TruckTraining is not designed to teach customers how to drive a truck, but instead help them to maximise the benefits of this advanced technology that can help drivers save fuel and reduce fatigue. Mercedes-Benz Trucks Head of Heavy Duty National Truck Sales in Australia, Gary Parker, says: “Anyone can step into a Cascadia and get good fuel economy, but to get really great fuel economy it pays to understand some of the features that really help save those extra litres.” “The Cascadia is not a traditional American truck. You don’t need to rev it hard. You can let the torque do the work, which means the truck will accelerate better and save fuel at the same time,” he concludes. Then there are specific technical features drivers may not have experienced yet because they might be available with other conventional trucks the driver has been piloting. One such feature for trucks fitted with the Detroit DT12 Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) is the Intelligent Powertrain Management (IPM), which is unlocked when the driver engages cruise control. IPM enables the truck to read topographic route data and its precise GPS location to maximise fuel economy. For example, it knows exactly when to select neutral and coast, when to hold on to a gear and not change up just before the crest of a hill and when to use the engine brake. The Cascadia is available with advanced 13-litre and 16-litre Detroit engines that combine advanced technology with legendary durability and are available with manual or AMT gearboxes. Freightliner TruckTraining is available to single operators and fleets across Australia. Training programs can be tailored for specific fleets for maximum effectiveness. #TruckTraining #DaimlerTruck

  • Daimler Truck Australia Pacific staff and family members celebrated National Tree Day yesterday by planting trees as part of a City of Monash revegetation initiative. More than 8000 indigenous seedlings were planted on the day as part of the community event organised by the Friends of Scotchmans Creek. Many staff members were joined by their children, who braved the chilly Melbourne conditions and were happy to lend a hand. Daimler Truck Australia Pacific, which includes the Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Freightliner and Fuso brands, is a great place to work for those who want to do their bit for the environment. Having led the way with the first full-range of Euro 6 heavy trucks with Actros in 2016 and introducing a bonneted truck that meets even stricter emission standards in 2019 with Cascadia, Daimler Truck this year introduced the most advanced fully-electric trucks in the Australian market; the eActros, eEconic and next generation eCanter. #NationalTreeDay #DaimlerTruck #FriendsofScotchmansCreek

  • An all-electric Mercedes-Benz waste collection truck will star at the Australasian Waste and Recycling Expo in Sydney this Wednesday and Thursday. Mercedes-Benz Trucks will present the ground-breaking eEconic, a truck that produces zero driving emissions and operates in near silence. The electric eEconic, which is now available for Australian customers, adds to the positives of the diesel Econic, which was developed as a specialist waste-collection vehicle. It was built from the ground-up to work in densely populated areas and is known for its excellent visibility, practicality and active safety features. The unique eEconic has been welcomed by European customers with its advanced design, strong performance and efficiency. The eEconic uses much of the same electric architecture as the Mercedes-Benz Trucks eActros, which is also on sale in Australia. Daimler Truck is an electric truck leader in Australia and was the first manufacturer to launch an all-electric truck when Fuso introduced the pioneering eCanter locally in 2021. Mercedes-Benz Trucks Australia Pacific Vice President, Andrew Assimo, says the eEconic will be a highlight of the AWRE event. “We’re excited to display the remarkable eEconic at this important showcase,” he says. “The waste and recycling industry is the perfect environment for the eEconic and will make it easy for businesses who are determined to reduce transport carbon emissions in a practical way,” Mr Assimo says. While Mercedes-Benz Trucks is leading the way with battery electric technology, it is also proud to help traditional internal combustion engine customers drive down emissions. Mercedes-Benz Trucks introduced the first full range of Euro 6 heavy trucks with the new Actros in 2016 and its remarkable fuel efficiency is renowned across the industry.  #ElectricWasteTruck #ElectricTrucking #eEconic #AWRE #AWRE2024

  • Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Freightliner and Fuso will soon have a new dealership to support customers on the growing South Coast region of New South Wales. Daimler Trucks South Coast will be located in the rapidly expanding Wollongong area, located to Sydney’s south, and will be operated by the team behind STM Trucks and Machinery. STM Trucks and Machinery currently operates a Fuso dealership at Smeaton Grange and has been awarded the Fuso Metro Dealer of the Year award for the last two years running. The new Daimler Trucks South Coast dealership will open in August and will sell and support the Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Freightliner brands initially, before adding the Fuso brand on January 1, 2025. It will initially be located in an existing facility in Unanderra. Work will soon begin on the construction of a custom facility that will set a new standard for commercial vehicle dealerships in the region when it opens in early 2026. The development plans for the site, located in Kembla Grange, even include an adjoining service station. Daimler Truck Australia Pacific President and CEO, Daniel Whitehead, says the company is excited about the upcoming Daimler Trucks South Coast dealership. “We are thrilled to have such a dedicated outfit as STM supporting our customers in the booming South Coast region. The new facility is going to be remarkable and we’d like to thank Michael and Ralph Gerace, and Nick Papallo, for their investment that will be warmly welcomed by our customers in the region,” he says. Daimler Truck Australia Pacific Aftersales and Network Operations Vice President Antonio Briceño says the customer dedication of the STM Trucks and Machinery team is a huge asset.   “The fact that STM Trucks and Machinery has won the Fuso Metro Dealer of the Year award for the last two years indicates what the customers of the South Coast can look forward to,” he says.   “Daimler Trucks South Coast will deliver the kind of customer support that the STM Trucks and Machinery team has been providing Fuso customers for forty plus years and we couldn’t be happier,” Mr Briceño adds. STM is a family-based company that has been operating in South West Sydney since the mid-1970s and has sold and serviced Fuso trucks since the early 1980s. #DaimlerTruckAustralia #DaimlerTruck #STM #DaimlerTrucksSouthCoast #STMTrucksandMachinery

Daimler Trucks Shepparton has delivered five Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks to Deniliquin Freighters. It represents the largest delivery yet for the new key regional dealership that is part of the Tristar Group. Deniliquin Freighters is a long-term Daimler Truck customer, operating both Freightliner Cascadia and Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks as part of its fleet. The company has been dealing with Daimler Trucks Albury, owned and operated by Tristar Group and its leader David Warren, but now also uses the new Shepparton dealership that is closer to its Deniliquin base. It has taken delivery of five 2663 Actros models which operate an efficient 630hp 16-litre engine teamed with a 12-speed fully-automated manual transmission (AMT). Deniliquin Freighters switched to Mercedes-Benz Actros models in 2017 and added Freightliner Cascadia models in 2021. Deniliquin Freighters Managing Director, Russell Tait says the Actros trucks that were being replaced by the five new models had performed well. “We’ve been really happy with them. The fuel economy has been good, the safety is always welcome and the drivers appreciate the comfort,” he says. “The trucks are one thing, but the team behind them, the support you get once the trucks have been delivered that is just so important. Dave will answer his phone whenever you call, whether it is in the middle of the night or the middle of the day and make sure any potential issue is sorted out and that is something we really appreciate.” Mr Tait describes the service he receives through Daimler Trucks Albury and Daimler Trucks Shepparton as ‘exceptional.’ “You can’t get a better dealer than Dave, it’s that simple,” he says. #DeniliquinFreighters #DeniFreighters #DaimlerTrucksShepparton #DaimlerTruck #DaimlerTrucks #Actros

A new chapter in sustainable transport kicked off this week at the Melbourne Showgrounds. That’s where we launched a full range of amazing all-electric trucks that will help our customers achieve their sustainability goals. These trucks from Mercedes-Benz and Fuso produce zero driving emissions and are quite simply the most-advanced electric trucks in the market. Being an engineer, I’m excited by the fact they are the first trucks here with eAxles, which save weight and operate more efficiently. The fact they also feature active emergency braking technology that gives pedestrians a higher level of safety than ever before is also worth celebrating. But ultimately, these workhorses are quite simply the best electric trucks you can buy, or lease, and they will help our customers achieve their sustainability goals while getting the job done. Daimler Truck now offers our customers a complete sustainable truck solution, whether it be lower emission diesel or battery electric. As part of our commitment, when it comes to these amazing electric trucks from Mercedes-Benz and Fuso, we can help with everything from legislation guidance and route planning to charging infrastructure advice. Each truck comes with a complimentary servicing package and there is a raft of financing packages including guaranteed buyback options. Daimler Truck customers have already travelled more than 8 million km in electric trucks around the world, including in Australia since 2021, and we are excited to be able to share what we have learned and give our customers an edge over their competitors. The team at Daimler Truck can’t wait to help our customers make real change with these pioneering electric trucks. #ChargingAhead

We don’t make our customers choose between sustainability and productivity. With our groundbreaking electric trucks from Mercedes-Benz and Fuso, they can have both. Today, we are launching a range of groundbreaking all-electric trucks from Fuso and Mercedes-Benz in Australia and I couldn’t be more excited. We didn’t take shortcuts to rush these models to market, but invested more time and money to make sure we delivered trucks with the innovation that our customers expect from Daimler Truck, which means the most advanced trucks in their class. The next-generation Fuso eCanter, Mercedes-Benz eActros and eEconic raise the bar for electric trucks introducing new technology to local customers determined to drive down their emissions. With up to 300km of realistic range, full connectivity, active safety, complimentary servicing and the reassurance of comprehensive real-world testing, the Daimler Truck electric workhorses are unmatched.  Their introduction follows a pattern. After all, we’ve been helping our customers reduce their emissions for many years and have led the way with Euro 6 trucks from 2016, which also have remarkable fuel consumption. But we are not going to walk away from diesel. Daimler Truck will continue to support customers looking to run lower emission diesel technology and maintain our leadership in that field, while also offering the best battery electric trucks for those customers who are ready take this exciting step. #ChargingAhead

We’re pleased to hear Acoustic Vehicle Alerting Systems (AVAS) will be mandated for electric trucks in Australia next year. It’s a positive step, and our electric trucks have had them for years, but the team at Daimler Truck thinks more technology is needed to protect pedestrians around vehicles that operate “near silently”. Radar-based systems that can automatically stop the truck for pedestrians in harm’s way in front of the truck and even down the left side of the vehicle are standard on our Fuso eCanter and Mercedes-Benz eActros and eEconic. It makes sense that this critical safety technology is fitted to all electric trucks, but it isn’t. Many of our competitors, especially in the small electric truck class, don’t even offer this feature as an option. This is just another example where it pays to look carefully at the kind of truck you are thinking of buying, because there are some very basic electric trucks out there missing key features that we know our customers value. I encourage all electric truck customers to ask a few questions. Is the truck they are interested in supported by an experienced dealership network? Does it have efficient eAxle technology? Did it just roll off the boat or has it been locally tested in Australian conditions?” In case you are wondering, when it comes to our electric trucks, the answer is yes. #DaimlerTruck #Fuso #eCanter #MercedesBenzTrucks #eActros
