Temperature is a critical driver of horticultural product quality, yield, seasonality and income potential. 🌽 If you are vegetable grower in Queensland, make sure you check out the Critical Temperature Thresholds (CTT) to help review, refine and improve planning and business decisions. The crop, location and historical climate data is combined with projected future temperature information and presented in easy-to-use graphs. For example, a local grower in Stanthorpe realised that, in coming years, he could potentially extend his growing season by at least a month. He could hire more full-time employees rather than trying to find seasonal workers for half a year. 👨🌾 The CTT project, funded by the Drought and Climate Adaptation Program, led by David Carey and Peter Deuter, has produced 13 detailed documents, now available: https://brnw.ch/21wM8bb #Climate #Horticulture #AgTech

Central Queensland growers and agronomists observed the impact of various urea incorporation methods on sorghum crops during a recent field day in Orion. Organised by our Grains Farm Business Resilience Program, the event showcased 5 urea treatments over 2 years. The results showed higher nitrogen uptake in continuous zero-till systems, than with strategic Kelly chain treatments. "Drilling urea at planting or broadcasting early in the fallow period reduced losses and improved crop uptake," our extension officer Dr Mohammad Ali says Our grains team regularly hosts Farm Business Resilience Program events on a range of topics. 📆 Check out our calendar for upcoming events in your area: https://brnw.ch/21wM5Xa #DroughtResilience #FarmBusinessResilienceProgram #FutureDroughtFund

Founder Little Tuna | CPA Accountant | 2024 QLD AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award Winner | Board Director Tuna Australia and CBWC | Women in Seafood Australasia
What a night and what a journey! ✨ Attending the National AgriFutures Australia Rural Women’s Award gala dinner at Parliament House on Tuesday was an experience I’ll never forget. Although there wasn’t a national win for me this time, I’m proud that my message supporting our Australian tuna fishers and Little Tuna was heard loud and clear. We’re not just a little jar of tuna, and we’re incredibly proud of that. A huge congratulations to Tanya Egerton - (NT) for taking home the national title and to Grace Larson (Vic) for being named Runner-Up for the 2024 AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award. And to my fellow national finalists—Rebecca Keeley (NSW/ACT), Belle Binder (Tas), Nikki Atkinson (SA), and Mandy Walker(WA)—thank you for making this journey even more meaningful. Nikki Davey quoted the experience perfectly "complementors not competitors" 💐 A highlight of the night was seeing our stories shared through videos with over 500 guests in Parliament House, and being acknowledged by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who delivered his speech in front of my impact statement. The room was filled with positivity and connections, all sharing the same values and passion for our Australian growth industry, and I am so proud to see seafood represented. A massive thank you to the Women In Seafood Australasia who came to Canberra to support and celebrate with me, as well as Tuna Australia and FRDC - Fisheries Research and Development Corporation. To Cathy McGowan and the AgriFutures board, along with the entire AgriFutures team—congratulations on such a powerful and positive program and event. I’m so proud to join the Agrifutures RWA alumni, and I’m incredibly grateful to Westpac for supporting this life-changing experience. Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey, especially my “tall handsome fisher” husband Rowan, and to our Little Tuna family for standing behind our brand and our Australian tuna fishing families. 🐟 check out my video here - https://lnkd.in/gRpSp-Jg #Australiantuna #australianalbacore #albacoretuna #australianseafood #AgriFuturesAU #RWA2024
