A cultural leap for Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) as QUAMPI nears completion 🦘🌴 We recently adventured to Minjerribah to learn more about the Quandamooka Arts and Culture Centre (QUAMPI). With construction set to finish in November and a grand opening planned for 2025, QUAMPI is poised to become a key First Nations cultural attraction. This exciting facility, nestled between the beach and bush, will celebrate Quandamooka culture and showcase Indigenous art from across Australia and the world.  With exhibition and workshop spaces, a talking circle, Elders space, and more, QUAMPI is designed to be a first-class venue for art, culture, and events. Our department is filled with talented and passionate individuals who are deeply committed to tourism and sport. One standout is Miriam Hansen from our Sport Division, who recently made her international referee debut at the 2024 Federation of International Touch World Cup! 🏆 Miriam joined an elite group of 87 Australian referees, representing Queensland among 37 officials. Over an intense six-day championship, she officiated 13 games, demonstrating exceptional skill, determination, and enthusiasm. Her performance at the World Cup was outstanding, much like her ability to juggle work and family life. She even celebrated her second child's first birthday during the event! Miriam’s journey is an inspiration to all of us and to her young daughter, Mini, who already dreams of following in her mother’s footsteps. 👶💕 We couldn’t be prouder of Miriam’s achievements and are excited to see what she accomplishes next, both on and off the field! 👏

🎵 Big news for Queensland's event landscape! @SuncorpStadium concert cap is officially increased to 12 concerts per year on a permanent basis, starting from 2025. 🎤 Following extensive public consultation, with over 81% of respondents in favour and over 75% of local residents who answered the survey supportive, this change will ensure Suncorp Stadium remains a premier destination for top-tier events. In addition, the definition of a ‘major sport event’ has been updated, enabling the stadium to continue to attract large-scale events and drive economic growth in our state.
