We have created Australia's new animal-free dairy, locally made that’s good for people and the planet.
About us
Milk has been sustaining humanity since day dot. From cow to bowl to banana smoothie, there are few foods that imbue the purity and satisfaction as milk across so many cultures. From our point of view, cow’s milk is the cream of the crop when it comes to meal times. The world’s expanding middle class and global population, is driving a protein demand that will need an evolution in dairy to help nourish the world sustainably. So we created a new way to make milk using microorganisms, naturally. Our natural method of fermentation separates the animal from the product while preserving and future-proofing dairy’s place at every kitchen table, in every cafe, and every ice cream cone.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Food Frontier - Chief Futurist at the Australian Council of Professions
Thanks Better Bioeconomy for highlighting my article for Green Queen Media. The insights from the recent Food Frontier AlProteins23 conference have greatly helped shape our point-of-view for the Australian #alternativeproteins sector. Important market analysis and contributions from Sissel Rosengren Nathaniel Tupou Kristi Knaack Riordan Mark Field., product innovations from Cale Drouin Diem Fuggersberger David Bucca Paul Bevan Jim Fader, and breakthrough technologies from Roger Drew at Eighth Day Foods and Nick Stamatiou at Whole. are amongst the many positive forces shaping the healthy future for Australia.
🇦🇺 Australia is emerging as a prominent player in alternative proteins thanks to innovation, government support, and market strategies Plant-based meats could generate AU$3 billion in sales and create 6,000 full-time jobs in Australia by 2030. The broader plant protein sector, including dairy milk alternatives, bakery ingredients, and sports nutrition, could contribute an additional AU$3 billion. There’s an increase in government discussions and papers featuring alternative proteins, a topic previously absent from policy before 2018. The foodservice sector, in particular, has seen notable growth despite recent geopolitical and financial challenges. The range of alternative protein products has expanded significantly, with a growing number of companies and products available in Australian supermarkets, and the country is on the verge of approving its first cell-cultivated meat product for sale (Vow Foods’ cell-cultured Japanese quail). As we approach 2024, what is keeping agrifoodtech startups awake at night? To find out, I fired off a few emails to companies I've covered on AgFunder News this year (apologies if you weren’t contacted, next year this will be more systematic 😉) to get a sense of what is disrupting their sleep, with a particular emphasis on the alt protein space. Unsurprisingly, the current challenging funding environment, hiring, regulatory hurdles, and souring media and consumer sentiment around #foodtech were high on the list, although several founders pointed out that stress just goes with the territory if you’re running a startup. At on-farm fertilizer production startup NTP Technologies, says founder John Ireland, “We have a saying: ‘We sleep like babies, up every two hours crying.’ If all the things I worry about kept me up,” he observes, “I would never sleep.” Hopefully I haven’t killed your buzz with this piece, but if you’re feeling depressed, check out part two of this vox pop tomorrow when we focus on what what founders and CEOs are excited about as we head into 2024… Huge thanks to everyone that took part! Exciting news! 🚀 Today, we have released our Key Terms Language Guide, which provides a foundation of clear and consistent terms and language for the cellular agriculture sector in Australia 🤗. 🗣️ The Language Guide sets out a series of voluntary key terms, definitions, and overarching communications principles primarily for use by those within the sector. This work has been shaped through an ongoing process of secondary research and deep consultation with a range of stakeholders from across the ecosystem. "CAA has been fantastic in bringing together industry peers to drive buy-in and consistency across the language used as new categories, like precision fermented dairy, come to fruition. Their pursuit of language simplification across complex research, science and product development not only benefits the industry but will be hugely impactful as consumers request to learn more about novel technologies," says project contributor Jessica Monk, Head of Product & Marketing at Eden Brew. Stay tuned - we have also begun to develop a series of targeted resources, aimed at specific stakeholders including media and relevant government departments and agencies, which will be made available in early 2024! A huge thank you to all those who contributed to the consultation process, and a particular shout out to Hannah Clayton for her early guidance on this project 🙏 . The Eden Brew mantra - "augment supply". With dairy production in decline in Australia, there is an opportunity to scale animal-free dairy to augment production and enable a secure protein supply in Australia as well as in export markets. Listen to Eden Brew’s CEO and Co-Founder, Jim Fader, discuss during a panel discussion at AltProtein23 Melbourne why government investment is needed in this space. #AltProteins23
