About us
Edge Effect ensures that the rights, needs and strengths of people of diverse sexual orientation, gender identity/expression and sex characteristics (SOGIESC aka LGBTIQ+ people) are addressed in international humanitarian and development programs. Our work includes participatory research, program design, program implementation, program evaluation, policy and practice development, and training. We work alongside with diverse SOGIESC civil society organisations to support their engagement within the humanitarian and development sector. As the Global Head of the Gender Equality and Inclusion Hub at Plan International, I am extremely proud of our first ever global Plan International’s Position Paper on People with diverse Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC). This has been a labour of love, hope, aspirations, following feminist values and methodologies, but with a lot of hiccup along the way, and it was critical for us to be nimble/flexible to find every possible entry points/solutions/way forward with every setback we faced. Thank you Claire House, Henry O. Salas Lazo (He/His), Lana Woolf, Emily Dwyer, Ramil Andag, Kirstin Lee Bostelmann, Anna Crumley-Effinger, Elodie Leroy-Le Moigne Chandreyi Guharay and many more who have been part of this journey. And what an amazing journey and learned so much in this process. This is an amazing milestone for us to advance our gender equality and inclusion agenda and embed a truly gender transformative and intersectional approach across all areas. 🎉Soumya Guha, Kathleen Sherwin, Damien Queally 🎉 #IDAHOBIT #Gender #Inclusion #SOGIESC
