For over a generation, Australia has provided the essential energy and mineral resources that underpin Taiwan’s energy security, and power its impressive high tech economy. 💡 Australia supplies 75% of Taiwan’s iron ore needs, 60% of the coal it uses, 55% of its salt, 52% of silica sand, 40% of its LNG, and 20% of its copper. 🌳As Australia and Taiwan have committed to net zero targets, we held annual in-depth discussions on how we can work together to ensure a smooth transition. ⚙️At the Joint Energy & Minerals, Trade & Investment Coop Consultations in Kaohsiung, we discussed how the Future Made in Australia initiative can boost our energy relationship. 🫧Afterwards, the inaugural Taiwan-Japan-Australia Hydrogen Forum looked at how our three economies can collaborate to make hydrogen the energy of choice in the future. This longstanding energy partnership between Australia and Taiwan is based on shared interests, friendship and trust. The next phase requires us to work even more closely together to ensure that renewable energy becomes the core of our partnership. As they say in Mandarin 加油, which means ‘add oil’ or ‘let’s do it’! We welcomed our guests to the Koorangie Energy Storage site yesterday to celebrate the arrival of 100 Tesla Megapacks. Marking an important milestone in the projects construction timeline, our guests toured the facility, and learned of the battery's superpowers which includes powering 350,000 homes for 2 hours, providing grid stability and liberate more renewable energy in the region. The Tesla Megapacks have arrived and been successfully craned into place at the KESS site. This significant construction milestone was celebrated with the Honourable Lily D’Ambrosio MP. Edify was delighted to host the Minister on site to update her on the progress of construction of KESS and its substation and to inspect the cutting edge technology of the Tesla Megapacks.
