We are saddened by news of the passing of Luke Bowen, an individual of significant influence to our livestock industry and a well-respected colleague and friend to many in the north. In the words of State GM Qld/NT Lisa Hewitt, “Luke Bowen was genuinely one of the true gentlemen of agriculture. His contribution to Northern Australia and the cattle industry has ensured that one of our most important industries continues to exist. He will be sorely missed.”
Our organisation is devastated by the passing of our former CEO, and one of agriculture’s finest leaders, Luke Bowen. Luke’s contribution to our industry, regional communities and as a friend and colleague cannot be understated. He was a remarkable person and our deepest sympathies are with Tracey and Luke’s family as they work through this unimaginable loss. Luke was instrumental to the establishment of Cattle Australia and we’re sure the nation’s grass fed cattle producers will dip their hats to one of our best today.

Fashion label ICICLE has recently released the ‘Dew Collection’ alongside Woolmark, featuring superfine Merino wool, and we are so proud that the wool for the collection was sourced from Elders clients David and Michelle Elsom from Old Ripponhurst Farm. The Elsoms grow wool at their property in southwest Victoria, prioritising sustainable practices in their operations. This collection features 17.5-micron wool, traceable to picturesque Old Ripphonhurst in Victoria’s Warrabkook region. The outerwear uses the exclusive “Dew” fabric (also known as Optim) developed by Dino Filarte, the brand under Nanshan Fashion. This world first technology combines Australian Merino wool and silk with a patented chemical-free process to create a fabric that is both water- and wind-resistant. Each garment in the collection includes a QR code, enabling wearers to easily verify the authenticity and origin of their wool, connecting the dedication of woolgrowers to the meticulous craftsmanship of design.
