🌈 Today we are proud to have celebrated Wear it Purple Day at ENGIE AU.  Members of our Executive Team and LGBTQIA+ Working Group hosted a lovely afternoon tea, where we celebrated the importance of delivering an environment which values everyone's differences, provides equitable opportunities to all team members and enables every employee to bring their true self to work, creating an inclusive and successful workplace. #WearItPurple   

In 2016 we started a global strategy to exit coal, and in Australia that included closing the Hazelwood power station and coal mine in Victoria and rehabilitating the site. Today it's the home of a large-scale battery, built in partnership with Fluence and Eku Energy, which can capture excess energy and store it for when we need it most, helping to stabilise the grid and support the growth of renewables. We’re excited to announce that we have reached Financial Close for the Goorambat East Solar Farm project in northern Victoria.    Once completed, the 250 MW solar farm could generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of 105,000 average Victorian homes.     This is a major step in progressing our renewable energy development pipeline and reflects our commitment to delivering 3 GW of renewable energy in Australia by 2030.    Engineering, procurement, and construction contractors Bouygues Construction Australia and Equans Solar & Storage, along with connection works provider AusNet, have now been given Notice to Proceed with full construction, which is expected to commence over the coming months.    Thank you to all involved in this milestone, including:  King & Wood Mallesons, Norton Rose Fulbright, BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO)    Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/gzAKVk3q   #ENGIE #WithENGIE #Solar #RenewableEnergy

It's 12 months on from celebrating the commissioning of the 150MW/150MWh Hazelwood #Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), built in partnership with Eku Energy and Fluence, at the decommissioned Hazelwood coal mine site. Marking a new era in Australia’s energy transition, #Hazelwood is the first retired coal-fired power station to host a BESS in Australia, which will deliver safe, secure and reliable energy to consumers in Victoria. #AuWE2024 - the Largest Wind Energy Conference & Exhibition in Australia was recently held in Melbourne. Thierry KALFON joined an executive panel to share views on the future of offshore wind projects in Australia, and lessons learnt from onshore wind in markets such as Europe that could be beneficial to Australian developers. The discussion underscored the urgency of accelerating our transition to renewable energy and highlighted the immense potential of wind power for a cleaner, resilient future. AuWE2024 also hosted the Regional Development Forum, where Jamie Lowe gave a presentation on how ENGIE is bolstering Gippsland’s Enabling Infrastructure through Battery Storage. Jamie showcased the #Hazelwood rehabilitation project – the first retired coal-fired power station to host a Battery Energy Storage System in Australia. He highlighted how battery storage serves a key role in accelerating the build-out of solar and wind resources, capturing excess power during periods of high energy generation while discharging to meet peak demand.  #WindEnergy #RenewableEnergy #BESS #ENGIE
