We welcome the decision by the NSW Government’s Independent Planning Commission (IPC) to grant approval of the Hills of Gold Wind Farm, located outside Nundle in northern New South Wales. Once developed, the 62 turbines at the site will offer a generating capacity of up to 372 megawatts (MW) – enough renewable energy to power up to 163,000 average NSW homes. The decision reflects years of hard work, by not only the project team but all involved, to develop an excellent wind farm project. We look forward to delivering the project and its many benefits to the local Nundle, Hanging Rock and Crawney communities. It was great to see our new Chief Renewables Officer, Laura Caspari speaking to industry last week at the FACCI - French-Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry Energy and Resources Series. It is always a privilege to contribute to conversations around the energy transition, particularly those on project approvals, and Laura shared some valuable insights on the unique challenges and opportunities for investment in Australia and the role of government in accelerating the transition.

A successful community benefit model requires a tailored, authentic approach that leaves a sustainable legacy within the communities in which we operate. Helena Moloney, Community Engagement Manager at ENGIE AU, joined a panel of experts at the Gippsland New Energy Conference to discuss our commitment to deeply understanding communities and continuously reflecting on and refining our engagement processes. She emphasised the need to engage early and often, to ensure the quieter voices are heard, and the importance of co-designing benefit sharing models collaboratively with communities.  #CommunityBenefitSharing #GNEC #WithENGIE #ENGIE  Gippsland Climate Change Network Inc.

Our key achievements in 2024 so far 👇 In May, OW Ocean Winds, our joint-venture, has been awarded exclusive rights for a 1.3 GW offshore wind project off the coast of Gippsland, Victoria. 🦘 This marks Australia's first offshore wind project and a significant step toward Victoria's 95% renewable energy target by 2035. With expertise from Ocean Winds and ENGIE's local presence, this project promises to boost both clean energy and the local economy. ENGIE AU Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gKDPAD85

Located south of Hay in NSW, the Plains Renewable Energy Park is a proposed large-scale development that aims to harness wind and solar energy to provide affordable, reliable and clean electricity for homes and businesses in NSW. With a generating capacity of up to 1,900 megawatts the project would represent significant progress in our ambitions to install 3,000 MW of renewable energy capacity in Australia by 2030. For the local community, The Plains aims to provide a range of direct and indirect economic benefits including increased local employment and contractor opportunities, and benefit sharing programs. Find out more in this video. #ThePlains #ENGIE #RenewableEnergy

We were excited to host four business briefing sessions across the Riverina in NSW last week, which gave us the opportunity to engage with interested individuals and businesses, on the proposed The Plains Renewable Energy Park project. At the briefings we discussed the potential jobs, skills and equipment required for the construction of the project. ENGIE is committed to prioritising opportunities for local employment and the use of local First Nations businesses where possible. If built at full size, the Plains would have a generating capacity of up to 1,900 megawatts (MW), which is the equivalent of powering up to 1.17 million average NSW homes. #ThePlains #WithENGIE #ENGIE Image Credit: Krista Schade/ The Riverine Grazier

In 2016 we started a global strategy to exit coal, and in Australia that included closing the Hazelwood power station and coal mine in Victoria and rehabilitating the site. Today it's the home of a large-scale battery, built in partnership with Fluence and Eku Energy, which can capture excess energy and store it for when we need it most, helping to stabilise the grid and support the growth of renewables.
