When Alec Renehan and I put a microphone traditionally used for recording live classical guitar in the middle of a table, on my balcony, with cockatoos screeching overhead, to record the first episode of Equity Mates Investing, never did we think it would become a full-time gig for us. We were scratching our own itch to go out and learn how to become better investors. We were frustrated with the lack of quality Australian content from non-industry professionals. We wanted to put the journey of financial independence in our own hands, and hopefully encourage a few other people (mainly our mates) to do the same. So it's mind-blowing and incredibly exciting to see last month we hit a record audience of 502,000 young Australians across our channels. That's half a million people tuning in to get help with financial literacy and is off the back of four consecutive months of record growth. With financial literacy going backwards in Australia, it makes us proud that we're able to communicate with the next generation, and do our small bit to make a difference, and put the power of financial independence back in their hands.
