Can the Chief Remote Pilot (CRP) role be from outside the organisation (i.e. outsourced)? Firstly - The CRP is a key individual responsible for the safety of an organisation's drone operations. While the regulations specify the responsibilities and qualifications of a CRP, they do not explicitly state that the CRP must be an employee of the ReOC holder. Therefore, it is possible to have an outsourced CRP, provided they meet CASA's requirements and can fulfil their responsibilities effectively. Some factors that would go into determining if the individual can meet their obligations would be: ➡️ The number of organisations they hold the role of Chief Remote Pilot with, and, ➡️ The volume of Remote Pilots under their control. For example if they were overseeing 10 ReOC's with 200+ pilots in total it would be unlikely they would be able to fulfil their duties for all organisations simultaneously. It's been terrific to work and watch AirSeed Technologies grow from a startup to making a global impact! The ecological reforestation company uses drones to first map and prepare the land, before planting seed pods via their drone platform Artemis. A single drone can plant up to 40,000 seed pods a day and is a vital tool in assisting with large-scale restoration projects. Working with Ru and the team has been a spectacular journey to witness - seeing them go from strength to strength, providing real environmental impact with their leading edge tech. After launching in Australia in 2019, the company engaged FlyFreely to help improve efficiencies. Chief Remote Pilot Ruapu Maka said it was a combination of the software and the team itself that led him to choosing the software for its drone management operations. “The main deliverable is based on flight time, so the more flight time I can get up, the better it is for the system,” he said. But Ruapu said what was even more important than the time savings was the secure way in which FlyFreely secured and stored customer data. “I need to remove human error from our operations and FlyFreely’s continuous checks and balances enables me to do that.” If your organisation's drone team are looking to simplify how you run operate - reach out to our team for a discovery session or proof-of-concept session to see if we can help! #drones #utilities #energy
