How can we help our students develop the skillsets and mindsets required to thrive in an ever changing future of work? What role do innovation, entrepreneurship, and work capabilities play in a school community? How can we foster a culture of innovation across our community? These are just some of the questions that our very own Nicole Dyson will be tacking at EduFest WA in Perth on 11 September. This action-packed day on is designed to equip educators with the skills and experience they need to foster the next generation of young innovators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers. How often can you reflect on learning experiences that were so powerful that 'time just flies'? This week, 'Activate' students from both Marsden State High School and Ipswich Girls' and Junior Grammar School spent time with Dan pitching their work, ideas and prototypes through some Q and A and speed mentoring. The engagement was so evident that Dan couldn't help but reflect on how the 'flow' of each session was a representation of the investment of the young people in their learning.

We were excited to be joined at Future Anything HQ by former Future Anything Activate student Grace for her work experience recently. Now in Year 10, Grace and her team mate from Fairholme College in Toowoomba made it through to pitch at the Future Anything National Grand Final in 2023 with their innovative social enterprise, ReSeas. We loved having her as part of our team (briefly!) - check out her blog on her work experience here:

What do you get when you combine dedicated and passionate teachers, authentic integrated curriculum, real world connection, project-based learning and embedded capability development? Answer: Units of work that have the power re-route the learning pathway for disengaged young people, where heightened levels of success leads to motivation, engagement and agency. This is exactly the purpose of the collaboration with Ursula Frayne Catholic College | Perth. Last week, Nicole and Dan worked with a team of staff to re-design units of integrated curriculum for Year 10 learners, as well as work with the wider staff to unpack the future of work and embedded capability development.

Anyone who knows us here at Future Anything knows how much we love feedback. In fact, for all our our programs (our Activate in-curriculum program , our teacher PD programs and our student workshops) we undertake extensive post-program evaluation to learn what's landed perfectly, where we can evolve things and to uncover the unexpected. We crunch A LOT of numbers, but what we love most is hearing from young people in their own words what they've learned on their Future Anything journeys.

The Future Anything team came away from the the recent NextEd conference buzzing with ideas, inspiration and energy, having heard from some incredible humans and caught up with educator friends old and new. They've captured just some of their highlights (and some great snaps!) in our latest blog. Take a look: https://lnkd.in/ga7bABxA Held on the Gold Coast in June, the conference was delivered in partnership with Lutheran Education Queensland, Trinity Lutheran College and Future Anything. Massive thanks to all the brilliant speakers, panellists and delegates so such a brilliant couple of days.
