At genU, we thrive on creating amazing experiences for our clients to increase inclusion and participation in the community. One great example of this was our Adventure team taking fifteen participants to surf Lorne’s waves over 3 fun-filled days. The trip was more than just surfing; it was about building life skills. For many, it was their first time away from home and camping. Participants set up tents, inflated mattresses, and helped prepare meals, gaining valuable independence and teamwork skills. 👏Join us in congratulating Elle Boyd, who recently received the Community Clubs Victoria 2024 Emerging Young Community Leader Award. The award recognises Elle’s contribution at work with the Ocean Grove Bowling Club (OGBC), and in the community, through her volunteer work with the Salvation Army Op Shop and the Bellarine Outreach Van. Elle started as a genU Disability Services client with our Employment Pathways team, and joined the OGBC in 2023 after transitioning from supported employment with genU. genU, genU Training and MatchWorks were thrilled to be part of last week's National Disability Services (NDS) 'Disability at Work' Conference in Sydney. As a platinum sponsor, genU Training showcased their suite of microcredentials, qualifications and tailored training products aimed at addressing key industry skill shortages identified by the government.   Daniel Gavin’s presentation on the soon-to-be-launched microcredential: 'NDIS Employment Support Fundamentals' was a conference highlight. Partnering with genU has helped Barwon Water achieve their social procurement goals. ☑ “Creating opportunities for Victorians with disability is a key pillar of Barwon Water’s approach to social procurement,” Managing Director, Shaun Cumming said. As part of this partnership, the genU team is currently providing more than 40,000 plants to Barwon Water each year. These plants are used for revegetation, biodiversity management, and donations to Landcare and community groups.
