Several members of the Institute recently concluded an intensive roadshow to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Tokyo. Fresh from their meetings and productive discussions with various government officials, industry leaders, think tanks, research organizations, #CCS finance providers and Institute members, they came away energized and impressed with the enormous momentum in the region. Their fruitful discussions focused on providing thought leadership and clarifications on several topics including: ◾ Accelerating regional CCS through policy and regulatory clarity, as seen in the US and EU ◾ Value of establishing a strong legal framework and the criticality of getting it clear & right ◾ Perspectives of current and developing CCS regulations globally, and various topics including business models, MRV, liability, and insurance ◾ The importance of educating the public and other stakeholders on the role of CCS ◾ How to increase public acceptance of CCS The team was impressed with the clear and actionable stance the region has taken towards a CCS future. This highlights how much we can look forward to. Thank you to everyone for all the support in making this a successful trip and the new friendships gained over a productive two weeks!

#ICYMI - Two recent pieces of #CCS news from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) 1. DOE's Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management released its final version of the Responsible Carbon Management Initiative Principles (and accompanying resources). The ten Principles provide guidance to ensure high standards for #carbonmanagement projects in the areas of community and Tribal engagement, workforce development, environmental justice and stewardship, health and safety, emergency response, transparency, and long-term stewardship. 2. DOE's Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management announced the selection of nine university and industry-led regional partnerships to receive $44.5 million in funding to advance commercial-scale CCS deployment in the United States. The projects will provide technical, informational, and educational assistance to stakeholders involved in DOE and private sector-based #carbontransport and #carbonstorage projects in the United States. Partnering with experts to provide affected community stakeholders with objective, unbiased technical assistance specific to the project region.
