In partnership with Zero Carbon Hydrogen Australia, GPA Engineering hosted our 3rd annual "H2 Debate in the pub" in Brisbane on August 26. Serving as an important sideline event to the 3rd Hydrogen Connect Summit, the debate was a chance to see some leading industry experts go head-to-head on some hot topics (and cause a bit of ruckus on the way).   Adjudicated by Nigel Hough, the 2 teams fought it out to determine if Hydrogen will make us happy. Many thanks to the 6 debaters:    🔥 Team A: Catherine Van Der Merwe, Matt Baumgurtel and Rimu Nelson 🔥 Team B: Cristina Muñoz, Gareth Forde and Eva Druk   While the debate didn't really confirm whether Hydrogen will definitely make us happy, we can 100% confirm that a debate in the pub about that, well that will definitely make everyone happy!

Years of tradition, peak performance athletes, vying for top spot on the world’s biggest stage. No, we aren’t talking about the Olympics – we’re talking about the GPAlympics! Over the course of the Games in Paris, GPA’s Adelaide team have been vying for gold in a competition of their own. From the 100m sprint (speed typing) to the weightlifting (endurance pineapple holding) discipline teams of GPA staff have been showcasing their athletic prowess in the lunch break. Despite a late medal rush by Team Mechanical, Team Process took home 1st place on the medal tally with 8 golds, 8 silvers, and 6 bronze medals. Overall, 135 staff took part in the events, with some 42 medallists amongst them. A special thanks to Simon Hanlin, who put truly Olympic effort into an exciting and engaging set of activities that brought the office together in the spirit of the games. Bring on 2028! #olympics

GPA is pleased to see the publication of the ACT Government’s Integrated Energy Plan. GPA consultants were engaged by the ACT Department of Environment, Planning, and Sustainable Development to assist in identifying pathways to decarbonising commercial and industrial gas appliances in the ACT. The consultant team analysed over 2500 industrial and commercial appliances and provided recommendations for decarbonisation pathways. The pathway to decarbonisation is non-linear, and this was reflected in the unique needs of each appliance for electrification or decarbonisation by other means. This was the first study of its kind in Australia and the results of this study have importance for decarbonisation of gas networks in every state and territory across Australia. GPA offers a wide range of advisory and consultancy services, with clients having access to some of our industry leading expertise: 👉https://lnkd.in/gMT2jTV9 You can read more about our work with the ACT government here 👉 https://lnkd.in/g6Y5UBjK #decarbonisation

Yesterday the Hon Tom Koutsantonis MP, Minister for Energy and Mining visited GPA’s Adelaide office. Minister Koutsantonis joined our project team to be taken on a virtual 3D tour of the Hydrogen Production, Hydrogen Storage and Power Generation facilities that will be built in Whyalla as part of the Office of Hydrogen Power SA's Hydrogen Jobs Plan project. GPA are using their extensive hydrogen industry experience to provide technical advisory and owners engineering services to the Office of Hydrogen Power South Australia. The Hydrogen Production, Storage and Power Generation facilities proposed for construction in Whyalla will catalyse a hydrogen industry in South Australia, creating jobs, reducing carbon emissions and improving electricity grid stability. GPA has grown from humble beginnings in Adelaide 38 years ago, to a national team of 400 staff. We are very proud to have opportunity to support this keystone project for South Australians.

GPA has settled into our new regional office in Port Pirie. This week members of the team, Jason King, Tane Bowels and Thomas Sanzo travelled up to Pirie joining our engineer on the ground Michael Raftery.   The team attended the Tactic - Connecting Regional Industry conference hearing updates of projects throughout the Upper Spencer Gulf and Eyre Peninsula, while taking the opportunity to catch up with clients and contacts.   GPA engineers have been traveling to Port Pirie for many years to provide engineering support to a number of clients in the USG region including Nyrstar, BHP, SIMEC Mining, LIBERTY Steel Group, Flinders Port Holdings Pty Limited, SA Water and others. We are excited to establish our home base in Port Pirie, providing staff a professional space to work from when they are not on site. We look forward to expanding our presence on the USG and strengthening regional networks.
