Governance and Risk Committee positions are available at Gymnastics Western Australia. Gymnastics WA is seeking expressions of interest from people willing to provide support and leadership to our newly formed Governance and Risk Committee. The committee is appointed by the Board, usually has a minimum of five members and operates as a sub-committee of the Board and would meet between 4-6 times a year depending on the issues arising and projects it is overseeing. Congratulations to our gymnastics finalists for the WA Sport Awards: Perth Gymnastics Academy and Michelle McMurdo! Perth Gymnastics Academy is a finalist for RevolutioniseSPORT Community Club of the Year. PGA had an outstanding year in 2023, working hard to creative inclusive and safe environments at their club, building their coaching workforce, and supporting their members in reaching new achievements. At PGA, they go beyond the routines and flips, and instead they strive to create an environment where the principles of support, protect, belong, respect, and transform are not just words but lived experiences for every member of their gymnastics family. Michelle McMurdo is up for the ActiveXchange Official of the Year again this time around, after having won the prestigious award at the 2022 SportWest Awards. Michelle has an array of accomplishments under her belt, including being nominated by the International Gymnastics Federation to be on the Difficulty Panel at the 2023 World Championships (BEL), one of only eight judges nominated from 30 Category 1 judges eligible worldwide! Michelle also judged at the FIG World Cup in Doha QAT, where she served as Apparatus Supervisor for both qualification and finals.
