Unlocking the Potential of the Disability Community: 15% of the Global Population     At Hailo, we're committed to highlighting the untapped potential within the global disability community. Did you know that 15% of the world's population, or over 1 billion people, live with a disability? Despite this significant number, their interests remain extremely underrepresented in almost every corner of the world.    Why is this?     1) Ableism: Persistent habits of not taking the needs and interests of individuals with disabilities seriously.  2) Diverse Disabilities: The vast range of disabilities affecting people of all ages and backgrounds.  3) Economic Disparities: Individuals with disabilities often face financial insecurity due to high costs of living, which impacts their ability to engage in activism.    What can we take away from this?     1) Empower: We need to empower this ‘Silent Majority’ by lifting them out of survival mode.   2) Raise Awareness: We need to help others understand the challenges this community faces.   3) Foster Inclusion: We need to foster a more inclusive environment in which the disability community’s voices are heard and listened to.     Join us in making a meaningful difference—in doing not just what’s right, but what is best for the world. As you all know, accessible public transport is something I am very passionate about and this is why I started Hailo. Over the past few months Hailo has been running a Pilot in New South Wales. The learnings and feedback from those who are using Hailo has been invaluable. However, the pilot is coming to and end and there are a lot of people who have wanted to experience Hailo, but haven't been able to do so. To give people the opportunity to hail a bus using Hailo, select their destination and know the bus driver will get this info in advance, we are running an experience day on the 17th of June in Sydney on the B-line.
