About us

Hanes Brands Australasia has come a long way from manufacturing Dunlop bicycle tyres in 1893. Known as Pacific Brands prior to the acquisition in July 2016 by the American multinational Hanes Brands Inc, today we are famous for our portfolio of truly iconic brands, including Bonds, Bras N Things, Sheridan and Berlei and many more. Our brands are sold through our extensive national retail network of over 500 Bonds, Sheridan and Bras N Things stores, our hugely successful e-commerce websites and via our wholesale partners. Headquartered in Melbourne Australia, Hanes Brands Australasia operates throughout Australia, New Zealand, China, Indonesia, and the United Kingdom. The passion of our 4,400 employees is the driving force behind our success. We are part of Hanes Brands Inc, the world’s largest manufacturer and marketer of basic apparel brands. We at Hanes Brands take pride in its strong reputation for ethical business practices: we are the only apparel producer to ever be honoured by the Great Place to Work Institute for its workplace practices in Central America and the Caribbean, and are ranked No. 167 on the Forbes magazine list of America’s Best Large Employers. For eight consecutive years, Hanes Brands Inc has won the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Energy Star sustained excellence/partner of the year award: again, the only apparel company to earn sustained excellence honours.

When the federal government proposes to classify period products as ‘lifestyle related’, affecting those on the NDIS, it’s hard to stand by and do nothing. At Bonds, we strongly disagree that menstrual management is a lifestyle choice – but rather a basic need. Period. Research conducted by Share The Dignity shows that 78% of Australians with disability who menstruate cannot afford period products. Since launching our Bloody Comfy Period Undies range, we’re proud to have donated over 49,000 pairs to communities and organisations in need to support individuals experiencing period poverty. If you want a bloody good deal, you can shop our range now at the jaw-dropping price of $15 (and use them over & over & over again), or head to this link & make your voice count for Aussies with disability: https://lnkd.in/gSqSFm5N

As part of our commitment to being an accessible and inclusive organisation, it's important that we're enabling people with a disability to participate equally in every stage of the employment cycle - including the recruitment process. We sat down with one of our team members Leith, to chat about how we were able to support her in the recruitment process as someone with Autism and ADHD: Q: Tell us a bit about yourself & your role - when did you join and why? A: I joined the Sheridan team as an Assistant Buyer in November 2023, and was interested in joining the Hanes Disability Advocacy Network (HDAN). I am Autistic and have ADHD, disabilities which often fly under the radar in women in the workplace, but present real challenges. Q: During recruitment, what support did you specifically receive to make the process more accessible? A: Accommodations & adjustments were offered as part of the standard recruitment process prior to my first interview, an offer that I gladly took up. Interviews can be nightmare fuel for neurodivergent people for several reasons, so without accommodations, we are rarely able to present our best selves. I asked for the interview questions ahead of time, which was an absolute game changer and really allowed me to relax and give my strongest answers. Q: How have you experienced your onboarding at Hanes being made accessible & inclusive for you? A: Within my first few weeks at Hanes, my manager Sara took the opportunity over lunch to re-connect with me on how to support me. We were able to openly discuss if there was anything I needed from her or support she could provide in my day to day to remove barriers and help me work at my best. This really opened the door to the conversation, and I was super thankful to not have to ‘break the ice’ myself. Q: Any other general advice for people in how to be accessible & inclusive? A: I really appreciated how proactive and supportive my manager was straight off the bat – I immediately knew I would be genuinely empowered to create the working environment that works for me. It’s also important not just at the start of employment, but to keep the door open through regular catch-ups. #BeInGoodCompany #GoodPeople #GoodImpact #GoodCareers
