💰Price Isn’t Everything, Service is the Game Changer💡 If price is your only lever, what happens when someone else comes along who offers more? In the world of foodservice and most business sectors, price is often the focal point of discussions. But what happens when price is the only strategy a supplier can offer? It becomes the weakest link. While working with the fantastic team at Whitsunday Foodservice, I was reminded that service, reliability, and innovative solutions often outweigh the lure of a lower price. In remote regions like Far North Queensland, where businesses rely on tourism and consistent supply is critical, a supplier’s ability to deliver exceptional service is what truly sets them apart. Price might be an easy lever to pull, but it’s also the shallowest. If that’s your only play, you’re not unique… you’re just cheap! And there’s always someone cheaper around the corner. My challenge to suppliers: Focus on what truly matters. Invest in service, build relationships, and offer value beyond price. A customer relationship built on price is not a sustainable business relationship for long term success. Transforming Teams in Tropical Paradise 🏝 Every so often, you get the chance to work in an idyllic location. This week, it was my turn in Airlie Beach! This week, I had the privilege of working with Whitsunday Foodservice in the stunning setting of Airlie Beach, Far North Queensland. Despite the early 5:30am departure and a day-long journey to get here, working with a great team and the beauty of the Whitsundays made it all worth it. I was invited by Pat Morrissey to support the capability development of the open, friendly, and engaged team at Whitsunday Foodservice, a proud member of Countrywide Food Service Distributors. Their customer base is as diverse as the Australian Foodservice sector itself, ranging from bars to bowls clubs, cafes to cruise liners, restaurants to resorts, and many more. What stood out was their unwavering commitment to service. In a remote area that thrives on tourism, Whitsunday Foodservice understands that service and reliability are often the defining factors for their customers. A special thank you to Pat Morrissey, Nicola Gavey, and Ross Boland, and their teams for the opportunity to collaborate and deliver bespoke training modules from The Commercial Academy.
