Happy third birthday, HOTA Gallery! 🎉 We can’t believe it’s been three years since we first welcomed the public through our doors on 8 May 2021. Across six levels of international standard exhibition space, we’ve showcased artworks from around the world, alongside celebrating the works of local artists. We're proud to be the vibrant hub of arts and culture on the Gold Coast. Here's to many more years of creativity and inspiration ahead!

Applications are now open for the Gold Coast Triennial! The contemporary art exhibition is held every three years at HOTA Gallery. We’re inviting artists from across the city to be included in a salon display of artworks that survey the cultural temperature of this dynamic region. This dedicated display, celebrating the variety of art made by local artists, will sit within a major Gallery 1 exhibition, alongside newly commissioned artworks and historical artworks from the HOTA Collection. Artists with a connection to the Gold Coast are encouraged to submit one artwork for consideration. It’s an open theme, so we’ll accept artworks that explore a range of subject matters and mediums, including painting, photography, textile, sculpture, video, installation and performance. 🔗 Find out more and apply at hota.tv/gc-triennial-24

In 2022-23 multi-instrumentalist, producer and sound designer Fletcher Babb (aka Cold Ghost) set out to discover the Nerang River as part of HOTA’s award-winning ArtKeeper program. Joining the HOTA team part-time for a six month residency, Fletcher explored the history, stories and flow of the Nerang River and Gold Coast waterways. The result? Red Gold, an intoxicating new album that journeys from mountain peaks to ocean depths through alt-folk songs, fingerpicking guitar and captivating soundscapes. Since its inception in 2019 HOTA’s Creative Development Program has supported 71 projects involving over 128 local artists, provided direct cash support and hundreds of hours of in-kind labour, space, and support to bring new works to life.
