    To our dear Clients, Candidates, and Partners, I am thrilled to share some exciting news about a significant transformation happening at Hudson. Tomorrow, our Hudson Technology, Projects and Transformation division will rebrand as 𝗨𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗛𝘂𝗱𝘀𝗼𝗻, marking a new chapter in our commitment to elevate people and organisations by connecting the best tech talent to projects and teams.  𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗨𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱  At Hudson, we have a rich history spanning over 39 years in professional recruitment across Australia and New Zealand, and over that time we’ve witnessed expectations and requirements for recruitment change, particularly in the technology space.  In 2020, we began the process of transforming operations at Hudson, culminating in specialist sub-brands of which Hudson Technology, Projects and Transformation is one. In early 2023, we accelerated our journey by increasing investment in a technology-enabled business model and enhanced our customer relationship management and talent functions.  The rebrand as UpperGround by Hudson reflects our mission to power technology transformation with on-demand talent. Even as Australia’s talent landscape continues to experience uncertainty, with the skills shortage continuing to affect the market, a trend is emerging; the increased competition for Entry-Level talent, both Graduate and unqualified. This trend is expected to continue as companies increasingly recognise the necessity of investing in new talent to counteract the prevailing skills shortage and combat tightening budgets. A positive outcome of this has been the increased demand for First Nations representation, with almost every Graduate and Entry-Level program dedicating focus on Indigenous talent. However, beneath the well-meaning desire, the overwhelming majority of these programs are failing to achieve meaningful representation, with most 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝟯.𝟴%). Yet with a median age of 24 years, the future of First Nations representation in our workforce has never been brighter. By offering employment opportunities and educational sponsorships, this offers an opportunity to not only address the immediate skills shortage, but contribute to closing the gap on First Nations disadvantage.     📢 Applications are open for rounds 10 and 11 of the Victorian Government’s Digital Jobs Program. These latest rounds will support 400 mid-career Victorians to gain specialist digital skills with 12 weeks of training, followed by the opportunity to apply for a 12-week work placement. Over 1,300 Victorian businesses have sourced talent from the program, including Bendigo Bank, which has successfully placed 5 candidates into permanent employment. The program has a strong focus on workers often underrepresented in the digital workforce, with 59% of participants being women, and 63% from non-English speaking backgrounds. Applicants can select to be part of the round 10 intake in early-August, or the round 11 intake in mid-November.
