The removal of the stator is just one part of a major upgrade currently underway at our mighty Gordon Power Station in the Tassie's southwest. Officially opened in 1978, Gordon Power Station is Tasmania’s largest renewable power generator. “It’s such a great reflection of all the effort by the team. It’s been a huge effort over the last 12 months to plan and prepare for today, so seeing a successful lift in such a controlled way and seeing the team bond together to really get the best out of the day is just exceptional,” said Jeff Westbrook, Project Manager Read more: https://lnkd.in/gsmUfZgv

If you haven’t been to Waddamana - Do yourself a favour and do it!! Today I was lucky enough to help host a school group between year 9 & 11! The day was kicked off with planting cherry blossoms to create an even better entry to this historic site! followed by a tour of the now retired power station - still has the original machinery, penstocks and old wind up phones 🤣 Finished off the day with an interactive STEM activity facilitated by a few of our Hydro Tasmania graduates! I learnt so much today and I’m sure the students got a lot out of it too days like this makes me love my job even more!! Shout out to Samuel Gray, Hannah Price, Brianna Fenton and Tim Tritton for your help today!! #earlycareers #waddamana #hydrotas #stem #graduates #lovewhatyoudo

"To generate hydropower you need lots of water, and steep hills — both things Tassie has in abundance." This month we were joined by The Design Files at Tarraleah Power Station, in Tasmania's Central Highlands. The station was commissioned in 1938, and is just one of thirty hydropower stations across Tasmania, generating clean energy from water 🌧 It's always exciting to welcome someone new to our world of hydropower, alongside our friends at Momentum Energy! Read about The Design Files Founder Lucy's trip to Tarraleah here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gAchWm9T Imagery by Eve Wilson and Julian Tay for the Design Files.
