We are pleased to announce a significant milestone at The Royal Melbourne Hospital with the topping out of the new lift shaft! Our journey began early this year with the installation of a tower crane. Since then, we've successfully installed 11 levels of precast, culminating in the placement of the lid. This intricate process required careful and constant communication with Royal Melbourne Hospital, as the lift integrates with the existing, live hospital environment. Our project team will now complete the installation of the lift itself, converting existing balconies into internal lift lobbies, and fitting out the existing lift lobbies to seamlessly integrate with the new structure. Following an initial ECI phase, this project involves the installation of a new lift shaft to service the MRI machines on Level 09, demolishing existing balconies to pour new structures and convert them into lift lobbies. The construction methodology for the lift shaft was developed after extensive site investigations during the ECI phase. The site presented unique challenges, being located within the hospital with no direct roadway access, tunnels below, and surrounded by occupied buildings. After considering multiple methodologies, we decided on utilising a precast lift shaft, facilitated by placing a tower crane within the hospital courtyard, significantly reducing time and cost for the client. Well done to everyone involved in this project to date! #Construction #Milestone #Teamwork #Innovation #RoyalMelbourneHospital

We are delighted to collaborate with the New Zealand Warriors Development Squad and Auckland Airport Jobs & Skills Hub to connect players with employment opportunities in the construction industry. Together, we are not just building structures; we are building futures. Under this new career’s programme the development players could become the future elite of the Warriors and/or leading professionals in the construction industry.   As part of our collaboration, we recently took the squad on a site walk to see our Transport Hub project at the Auckland Airport which is nearing completion. The site walk was an invaluable experience for the Warriors development players, giving them an insight into the construction industry and the opportunities it can provide.   #BuildingFutures #CommunityImpact #CareerPathways

We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded a contract to build the Woollahra Collection by Fortis. This project involves the demolition of non-heritage structures onsite, site remediation and archaeological work, shoring wall and two levels of basement excavation, construction of 18 residences over three levels above ground, and the heritage conservation and refurbishment of the existing six terraces onsite. We are honoured to share that a traditional smoking ceremony was recently held on the project site. This ceremony, led by Gadigal elders, was a profound moment of cultural significance and a meaningful way to cleanse the area and bless our work. It reinforced our commitment to respecting and honouring the heritage of the land on which we build. Where possible, we commit to engaging with these communities in a spirit of partnership and wisdom as we undertake our activities on their ancestral lands. Stay tuned for more updates as we bring this vision to life! Icon, together with JV partner Reeves Envico, are pleased to announce the award for the contract for the construction of the new Australia-funded SBD250m/AUD45m Naha Birthing and Urban Health Centre in East Honiara, Solomon Islands. This important project for the health of Honiara’s population officially commenced with a ceremony attended by Australia's Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon. Richard Marles MP, and Solomon Islands Minister for Health and Medical Services, Hon. Dr. Paul Popora Bosawai. We are committed to involving local workers in the project wherever possible and listening to the voices of the community and health workers who will use this new facility. The Naha Birthing and Urban Health Centre will set a new benchmark for healthcare in Solomon Islands, providing new mothers and mothers-to-be with the very best pre and post-natal care. This will not only give the next generation of Solomon Islanders the best start possible but also ease pressure on the National Referral Hospital. Designed to withstand earthquakes and other natural disasters, the centre will be delivered with high-quality equipment and trained staff. Australia will also support the handover and maintenance of the facility to ensure its longevity. Once complete, the centre will offer first-class birthing, pre and post-natal care services for women, as well as eye, dental, pathology, x-ray, ultrasound, and pharmacy services. A large general-purpose room will provide a flexible space for public and community health initiatives. Icon and Reeves are proud to be delivering this vital project and looks forward to making a positive impact on the health and lives of the people in the Solomon Islands. From little things big things grow… In 2014, Barpa Construction Services was established as part of an ambitious initiative led by the Federation of Victorian Traditional Owner Corporations, aimed at fostering economic growth, enhancing capacity, and providing employment and training opportunities for First Nations people. Icon and the Federation created a construction enterprise designed to innovate the industry by empowering Indigenous individuals and businesses nationwide. This partnership marked a unique convergence between Australia’s oldest living culture and Victoria’s longest-standing construction firm, operational since 1861. A decade later, Barpa stands as a testament to Indigenous business success, having solidified its reputation as a respected builder across Australia in sectors including Defence, Health, Education, and Social Infrastructure. Please enjoy this video that celebrates this incredible milestone and its achievements over the past ten years! #Indigenousbusiness #Construction #10Years
