★ 𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗡𝗦 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗧𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 ★ ✨ 𝗡𝗔𝗜𝗗𝗢𝗖 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗕𝗬 𝗜𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗞 ✨ The Chamber NT would like to acknowledge and highlight the empowering NAIDOC Week 2024 Celebration by Ironbark Aboriginal Corporation Ironbark Aboriginal Corporation's NAIDOC Week event was more than just a celebration; it was a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and unity of Indigenous communities. As we reflect on this year's NAIDOC Week, we are reminded of the words shared during the event: "Let's never stop the fire burning." This sentiment encapsulates the spirit of NAIDOC and the ongoing journey towards recognition, respect, and unity. • It’s been a busy week of events in Darwin, but one we never miss is the Clontarf Foundation Top End Employment Expo, held this year at the CDU Indigenous Leadership Centre on Wednesday. The event brings together Year 12 Clontarf students from across the Top End to engage with partners showcasing a range of industries, hear from Clontarf alumni now in the workforce, and participate in mock interviews. Our team was excited to represent Ironbark Aboriginal Corporation and share insights into the diverse career opportunities available across our businesses, including Ironbark Services NT, Darwin Precast Products, RapidClean NT and Aboriginal Bush Traders. Students had the opportunity to engage with our team members, and discuss various career paths within our organisation and build their networks. Well done to all involved ✨ Liam Toner Cameron Ilett

  • Congratulations to Sanderson Middle School on the creation of their new Yarning Circle which was officially opened today. This remarkable space, reflecting the school's values and cultural diversity, is a testament to the vision of SMS's Tammy Llewelyn and Margaret Anstess, whose inspiration began back in 2020. The Yarning Circle will be used as a teaching and learning space to share cultural knowledge and stories. The Yarning Circle is centred around seven totem poles, each representing one of the seven Larrakia seasons, beautifully painted by Larrakia artist Jason Lee from Bidjipidji Art. These poles stand as a powerful symbol of connection to the land and respect for Larrakia culture. In 2020, the vision began with a native garden planted around the future Yarning Circle site, featuring 40 native plants, including bush apples and plums. As these plants flourish, they will create a shaded and fruitful environment for students and staff to enjoy for many years to come. Vic Williams from Larrakia Nation was on hand to raise the Larrakia flag at the opening, further honouring the cultural significance of this special place. Ironbark Aboriginal Corporation was honoured to support this wonderful project, which will leave a lasting legacy for future generations. Well done to everyone involved in bringing this vision to life!
