Every day, brave children around the world face the toughest battle of their lives — cancer. Let’s raise awareness, spread hope, and support the fighters, survivors, and their families. Especially during September as it is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. 💛 Did you know? More than 400,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year globally. Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children. Despite advances in treatment, 1 in 5 children diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won’t survive. This is a global issue. Many childhood cancers are unique and differ from adult cancers, requiring specialised treatments. Early diagnosis and advanced treatment have led to an 80% overall survival rate, but there’s still much more to be done! Join us in the fight against childhood cancer! #ChildhoodCancerAwareness #ALCCRF #Lions201C1 #CancerWarrior #ChildhoodCancerMonth #KindnessMatters

Today, we celebrate the incredible potential and boundless energy of young people around the world. Lions are proud to be part of the journey that empowers young people through our Cubs and Leo Clubs, and our many youth projects, to become the leaders of tomorrow. Our Cubs and Leos are learning the values of teamwork, community service and leadership. They are dynamic and passionate, and taking the lead on innovative projects and initiatives. They are driving change, raising awareness on important issues, engaging in hands-on experiences, gaining skills and confidence, and making a difference in their communities. We are thrilled to share an incredible initiative by the Golden Grove Lions Club and their local Council. Recently, this Lions Club invited members of the Pedare Pride Cubs Club and Pedare Christian College Leo Club, to come together at the Kingfisher Reserve in Modbury Heights. Together, they planted approximately 500 plants, establishing a butterfly and bee garden. This initiative not only enhances our local environment but also supports the global cause of preserving our natural ecosystems. A massive thank you to everyone involved for your hard work and dedication. Your efforts have helped to create a thriving habitat for pollinators and a more sustainable future. #LionsClub #LeoClub #CubsClub #PedareChristianCollege #Environment #ButterflyGarden #BeeGarden #Sustainability #CommunityService #PlantingForTheFuture #Lions201C1

Project Spotlight - Gleeson Wetlands The Gleeson Wetlands are in Clare, about 140km North of Adelaide, in Mid North South Australia. The wide variety of native flora and year-round water provides a safe haven for numerous birds. Plant species have been selected to meet the different feeding habits of birds, such as nectar feeders and insect eaters, while the structure of the large number of plants provides a variety of safe habitats. Many bird species have already established themselves at the Gleeson Wetlands and as plants mature, it is anticipated these numbers will grow. A recently constructed bird hide is an excellent place to sit and watch the bird life. Since 2014, members of the Lions Club of Clare District Green Team have worked together with Clare and Gilbert Valleys Council and local contractors to develop the natural beauty of the Gleeson Wetlands. This has included extensive planting of more than 4,000 native seedlings, spot spraying and spreading mulch for weed control. Working bees are held and community volunteers are always welcome to join in. This project has already attracted a great deal of community support including local schoolchildren who have enjoyed planting seedlings and spreading mulch. The Wetlands are popular with locals and visitors whether they are a bird or plant enthusiast or looking for a pleasant outing. The Clare District Lions Club are proud to continue to be actively involved with the Gleeson Wetlands. From planting, mulching, fitting tree guards and watering plants, to general maintenance and teaching children about the environment ... Lions are having a positive impact on the environment and the community. #GleesonWetlands #ClareDistrictLions #Volunteering #Community
