Why culture, not goals, set high performing teams apart The health of an organisation’s culture influences and determines the health of the organisation. It is culture, not goals, that sets teams apart and, therefore, needs to be on the radar of leaders. Culture is the environment that whether intentionally or unintentionally is created for workers. It is in this environment that workers on average will spend a third of their waking hours, which means investment in culture is too big to ignore. Organisational leaders have an opportunity and a responsibility to shape the environment that their team engage with every day.

It’s common for younger generations (typically Gen Z), to express frustration at older generations, particularly when it comes to use of technology. Take the workplace, for example. A younger employee may be frustrated that someone in a leadership position or who has been at a company for 20 years, struggles to save a word doc as a PDF. But what about the older generations? Should they put up with this criticism? They've been doing this for decades and know how to run their department or company. After all, they were once the youngest generation in the workforce, and now they get to enjoy the benefits of their tenure and experience, and have younger colleagues help them with these tasks. Each of these views has valid points, and we've found that things like this are better understood with context and nuance. And so that's why, at our upcoming event, we'll be unpacking our latest report about each of the generations in the workforce, as well as the leadership styles each responds to best and the strategies for building healthy intergenerational teams. We look forward to seeing you there 👇
