Congratulations to our super-talented Coles Group, Bunnings and Qantas magazine teams. All three titles are celebrating record-breaking readership results today. Coles magazine remains the NUMBER ONE MOST-READ MAGAZINE in the country with a record-high readership of 5,188,000 readers per issue. That’s more monthly readers than the total number of IRL spectators at the Paris Olympics. Bunnings magazine is still the NUMBER ONE HOMES MAGAZINE in the country with another record readership to date: 1,902,000 readers per issue. The G.O.A.T. of D.I.Y.   Qantas magazine celebrates its HIGHEST READERSHIP TO DATE of 537,000 readers per issue. We do love a new PB! Seeing how broadly these magazines are read and how deeply they’re valued by readers and customers certainly makes us proud. Congratulations again to the teams, and thank you to our long-term client partners for powering these much-loved titles. #readership #magazines #brandedcontent #contentmarketing Source: Roy Morgan Readership Survey, July 2023 to June 2024

We were privileged to be joined by Chloe Hooper from Bare Feat in our Pyrmont office (and online) today for a deep, meaningful and engaging session about mental health awareness and action. Chloe is an ex-media professional turned ‘change catalyst’ business owner. Driven by her family’s experience with mental illness, she pivoted to become a mental health first aid instructor six years ago. To date, she has trained some 2500 leaders and CEOs in the media, marketing and creative industries – including many of Medium Rare’s leadership team – to have the knowledge and skills to recognise signs of mental ill-health, equipping them to help colleagues and reduce stigma in the workplace. She reinforced the importance of having open conversations, not shying away from them, and more importantly listening, echoing the wisdom of Stephen Covey: “Listen with the intent to understand, not the intent to reply.” We recognise the challenges that face us all, professionally and personally, and today’s conversation was part of our ongoing commitment to prioritise mental health and wellbeing. Chloe is pictured with Medium Rare’s MD Nick Smith and Kirsten Galliott, Head of Content for Business and Travel, who facilitated the session. #MentalHealth #MentalWellbeing

  • It’s Pride Month! 🌈 Yesterday we celebrated with an all-staff breakfast, and were joined by special guest News Corp Australia CFO Michael Murphy In conversation with Steph D’Souza, Editor-in-Chief of Company Director magazine, Michael shared his funny, insightful, and at times emotional story. He talked about being open and authentic in corporate settings, the mission to drive inclusion in a thoughtful and considered way, and the bright future he sees for his family. As the Chair of News Corp Australia’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committee, an initiative he helped drive to fruition, Michael is passionate about creating and fostering a workplace where everyone feels comfortable being their true selves. At Medium Rare, it’s a vision we share, and we feel an overwhelming sense of pride working in an environment committed to upholding these values and helping to drive change forward. #pridemonth

  • POV: you’re at Think. The insightful, impactful and award-winning thought-leadership series is presented by Qantas magazine in association with LSH Auto Australia. Our latest Think. Sydney event saw panellists Jenelle McMaster, deputy CEO EY Oceania, Dominic Price, work futurist, Atlassian, and Sally Bruce, chief operating officer at Culture Amp discuss EQ to AQ: the skills we need for the workplace of the future. The series recently won a CMA (UK) LIMITED International Content Marketing Award but we’re most proud of the fact that 93% of past attendees say they find the series extremely valuable thanks to “insightful speakers, interesting content and great conversation”. Thank you to all of the leaders who have shared their time, expertise and insights with the Think. community over the years, as well as our wonderful event partners for welcoming everyone so warmly. Of course, this event series would not be possible without our longtime partner Qantas, which champions innovation and knowledge sharing, and our presenting partner LSH Auto Australia. We love this series and look forward to the next event later this year; stay tuned for more.

  • Our latest work starring MVPs Dylan Alcott, Millie Ford, Dr Ryan De Cruz —and the MVP of skincare, CeraVe.   Many people know of CeraVe (and its iconic Super Bowl stunt), but not everyone knows the brand is developed with dermatologists with a cult formula that has three essential ceramides and provides 48-hour hydration.   To share these proof points at scale, in CeraVe’s signature playful style, we enlisted Paralympic and tennis legend Dylan Alcott, content creator and actress Millie Ford, as well as Australian dermatologist Dr Ryan de Cruz to edu-tain audiences in a 30-second spot that cements CeraVe as the MVP of skincare.   The campaign will made its debut last week on Kayo Sports, YouTube, Meta, TikTok and other channels.    This was a really fun one to work on. Shout-out to all of our MVPs that brought this campaign to life: Chantelle Love, Tania Turner, Jamie Richards, Ellisa Kimura, Sarah Macrae, director jonathan may and co-producers Merv Makes, plus our incredible and trusted partners at CeraVe and L’Oréal Australia and New Zealand, and, of course our epic talent.

Kirsten has expanded her role to Head of Content, Travel & Business across QantasCommonwealth Bank and Australian Institute of Company Directors Managing Director Medium Rare Nick Smith: "As the most respected content marketing agency in Australia – and also the highest-reaching magazine publisher* – we continue to attract, retain and grow the incredible depth of expertise and talent for our brand partners and the business. Kirsten and Genevra are testament to that." Genevra Leek: “I feel privileged to be stepping into this role at a time of such strength for the brand and excitement for the industry. I’ve had an incredible introduction to Qantas over the past 18 months and I’m thrilled to continue to work closely with Kirsten and our incredible team for this next chapter.” Kirsten Galliott: “I have lived and breathed the Qantas brand for nine years and will continue to do so as Head of Content. But it’s time to bring in new perspectives and new talent to further evolve the brand and I couldn’t be more thrilled that Genevra will take the reins.” Qantas magazine just recorded its highest readership since 2012 with 529,000* readers, while Travel Insider also reached new heights in April with more than 4.2 million^ page views and 310,000^ unique visitors, the highest numbers in its nine-year history. *Roy Morgan, Australian Magazine Readership, 12 months to March 2024 ^Adobe analytics, April 2024
