Behind every team member is a significant other or a family member offering support. So every winter, we invite these important supporters to enjoy an upmarket dinner with us.  It’s a great way to banish the cold, show our appreciation to our friends and family, and spend a bit of time away from the office just enjoying each other’s company. In Melbourne, more than 60 of us gathered at Commune Wine at Southbank. On the menu were delicious large sharing plates (halal, as that’s how our super-diverse company rolls), drinks of all kinds, and the happy buzz of animated conversation. Many thanks to Middleton Group Operations Coordinator Katharine Myles, our queen of events, who made it all happen. 📸 Enjoy the pics! #MiddletonGroup   #GreatPeopleElectrifyingOutcomes

We have a new colleague! Ildiko Sztojka has joined us as Senior Design Manager – Primary & Earthing in our Sydney office. She brings with her years of experience gained in her native Hungary, the United Kingdom and Australia. Welcome to the team, Ildiko! Ildiko gained her undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, at Szent István University, Budapest and started her career in Hungary as a site engineer. Between Hungary, the United Kingdom and more recently Australia, she has worked in bridge and highway construction, rail, maritime works in defence environments, and retail shopping centres, transitioning to design management on the way. Ildiko says that as a girl on school holidays, she would go to work with her civil engineer father and liked what she saw. From the age of 14, Ildiko says, she knew that she would be an architect or a civil engineer. A role at Middleton Group appealed as Ildiko saw an opportunity to leverage her skills and experience and make a meaningful contribution to the team. “Additionally, I appreciate Middleton Group's values, culture and focus on people, and I believe I can thrive and grow within this environment,” she adds. “I am eager to take on new responsibilities that will allow me to further develop professionally." #MiddletonGroup  #GreatPeopleElectrifyingOutcomes

Amir Mehrtash has joined Middleton Group as General Manager – Grid Connections, based in our fast-growing Brisbane office. Welcome, Amir! Amir brings two decades of experience in analysis, planning, research, and modelling of power systems. He has been involved with business development, project and client management, strategic advisory, and technical leadership in the connection of asynchronous and synchronous generators (solar farm, wind farm, BESS, hydro, gas, diesel and geothermal) to the grid.     Amir holds a BSc and MSc in Electrical Power Engineering from K. N. Toosi University of Technology in his native Iran, later gaining his PhD at Nanyang Technological University Singapore. He worked in Iran, Singapore, and Aotearoa New Zealand before moving to Brisbane in 2019.  Amir was keen on electrical engineering from childhood. “My dad used to own and run an electronics store, where he sold electronic products and repaired TVs," he says. "I grew up seeing the real application of electrical engineering and became familiar with electronic circuits very early in my life.” Amir became interested in Middleton Group after several conversations with company founder Keith Middleton. “It was very interesting to see how the company values employees and clients, how the company invests in developing future leaders, how the quality of service is front of mind for company leaders,” says Amir. “And being an employee-owned company, everyone feels like they are part of a family. My values – integrity, commitment, quality – and Middleton Group’s values were closely aligned.” #MiddletonGroup   #GreatPeopleElectrifyingOutcomes

Building things with Lego to spark team conversations, polishing communication skills and discussions about finding the sweet spot between work and life were among the activities at Middleton Group’s annual retreat, held for the second consecutive year at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.  The retreat, titled ‘Growing Together: Advancing our business for success’ was an end-of-financial-year opportunity to gather our people from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Aotearoa New Zealand. We took a step back from everyday activities to focus on the bigger picture, socialise and enjoy good food (as well as food for thought).  Middleton Group is proud to be 100% employee-owned, giving our talented people an opportunity to invest themselves in the company’s growth as we work together to help communities achieve a sustainable energy future. 📸Check out the pictures. #MiddletonGroup  #GreatPeopleElectrifyingOutcomes

On the little finger of engineer Anna Qureshi’s right hand, you’ll see a small ring with bevelled edges. Engineers trained in Canada, as she was, recognise it straight away – it’s issued in a ceremony in which they pledge to uphold the duties and responsibilities of the engineer. The ring, worn on the dominant hand, is a constant reminder to maintain high standards of professional conduct.     Anna (Anna M.Eng, P.Eng) has brought this Canadian engineering heritage, which is more than a century old, to her new role with Middleton Group. As Design Manager, she works primarily on HV 132/22kV substations for data centres. However, as Anna has a background in secondary protection design, she will also be working in this area “to support a very talented secondary team here”.     Recently, in Canada, Anna worked as a project engineering lead at Bruce Power's HV switchyards, executing a large-scale projects and at Hydro One, both in Ontario.  Anna was born and raised in Pakistan. She was expected to follow the family path into medicine, but that didn’t appeal: “I was not too keen on the idea of dissecting frogs and lizards during biology practical exams.” She enjoyed physics and mathematics, however: “I was inspired by scientists such as Nikola Tesla and Edison. That led me to electrical engineering.” Anna gained her undergraduate degree at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology then a Master of Business Administration at Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology on a Fulbright scholarship sponsored by Shell Petroleum. Moving to Canada in 2011, Anna gained a masters degree in industrial engineering at the University of Regina. She is a licensed professional engineer in Canada and a member of Engineers Australia.  Asked what appealed about a role at Middleton Group, Anna said, “I would say culture and diversity are number one. Secondly, how accommodating and friendly the Melbourne team is.” Welcome to the team, Anna!   Read more on the Iron Ring here: https://lnkd.in/ggmxPhz5     #MiddletonGroup  #GreatPeopleElectrifyingOutcomes
