The NFL will now officially allow private equity firms to invest in its teams. This new policy, voted on by NFL owners, provides much-needed capital for franchises facing skyrocketing valuations, helping fund major projects like new stadiums and facilities. The new rules come with strict guidelines: a 10% ownership cap, minimum six-year hold, and limits on the number of teams a single fund can invest in. The NFL is now the last of the major U.S. pro league to allow institutional investors. It’s believed at least a handful of deals have already been prepped in anticipation of approval.
