Together, we stand with Australians in need until they can stand for themselves.

About us

Mission Australia is a national Christian charity motivated by a shared vision of an Australia where everyone has a safe home and can thrive. Since 1859, we’ve been standing alongside people in need across Australia, offering real hope that has lasting impact. Backed by our supporters, churches, partners and funders, we work together for the long-term wellbeing of anyone who needs us, reflecting our values of respect, compassion, integrity, perseverance and celebration. We collaborate with people experiencing homelessness or disadvantage to tackle the root causes of their challenges through providing access to safe, affordable homes and innovative, evidence-based support services. Every day we deliver homelessness crisis and prevention services, provide social and affordable housing, assist struggling families and children, address mental health issues, fight substance dependencies, support people with disability and much more. Mission Australia believes a person’s circumstances shouldn’t define their future and that given the right support, everyone can reach their full potential. That’s why we stand together with Australians in need, until they can stand for themselves.

🚗🎉 Kayla is on the road to independence.  Kayla joined our L2P program after she secured a traineeship as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner and needed a license to get to her new job. She teamed up with volunteer driving mentor Robert, and with his support and encouragement, Kayla completed her hours, learned safe driving skills and got her driver's license! 👏 *L Plates to P Plates (L2P) is a community-based learner driver experience program operating in the Shires of Wellington and East Gippsland. L2P supports learners who do not currently have access to a supervising driver to accumulate their 120 hours of supervised driving practice.

Despite the cold, the sun popped out to greet special guests who visited our Triple Care Farm* in Robertson, NSW, last week.       Sir David Martin Foundation are major philanthropic partners of Triple Care Farm. Over three decades, their support has been vital to this service and our Youth Aftercare programs nationally through their Youth Network. The Foundation were also major drivers in establishing our withdrawal facility, David Martin Place. Thank you!   *Mission Australia’s Triple Care Farm offers a youth withdrawal program (David Martin Place) and a youth residential rehabilitation program located on 110 acres in the NSW Southern Highlands. Referrals are accepted Australia-wide for young people facing substance misuse, mental illness, homelessness, and family breakdown.

🎅🎁❤️ There may be 176 days until Christmas.... but in Tasmania, Santa has arrived early. Our team in Rosny hit the mid-year toy sales and filled their Santa sacks with $1,000 worth of toys to donate to kids this Christmas. They raised donations through their office ‘drink and snack’ fridge, to satisfy their sugar cravings. Well done team, we think every office needs a 'drink and snack’ fridge! #ChristmasinJuly

CW: This post contains references to domestic and family violence. Relationships are central to our lives. Whether it’s a relationship with a life-long friend, intimate partner, family member or colleague, even the best of our relationships can face challenges and fractures over time. From poor communication and conflict resolution to controlling behaviour, there are telltale signs that a relationship is harmful or becoming unhealthy. Learning how to spot unhealthy relationships in our lives or in the lives of those around us, can help us safeguard our wellbeing and protect the people we care about.    *If you or someone you know has experienced domestic or family violence, call 1800RESPECT on 1800 737 732 or visit www.1800RESPECT.org.au for online chat and video call services.
