Recently M2M’s Jennifer Windred and Larnie Morrison attended the 34th annual conference of the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) in Adelaide. The event is for continuing professional development for ASCIA members and other health professionals working in allergy and clinical immunology in Australia and New Zealand and a great opportunity to meet in-person, learn about current allergy and clinical immunology issues and research hearing from more than 60 speakers. One of the highlights for Jen and Larnie was meeting up with Derek Croote and Laurence Nore from IgGenix, Inc, a client that M2M is currently working with. Derek shared his very personal story of his life-threatening allergy to dairy with Jen and Larnie, and his incredible dedication to finding a cure to prevent anaphylaxis is very inspiring. They were both grateful to attend the session where our Lead Principal Investigator, Michael O’Sullivan, presented Derek’s paper. The key learning for Jen and Larnie was the extreme level of anxiety that people with severe allergies experience and the profound impact it has on their daily lives. It was really encouraging hearing about the innovative research being undertaken in Australia and New Zealand with such dedicated immunologists striving to improve treatments and patient management. Peanut allergy is a major cause of food anaphylaxis in adolescents and adults. Emerging treatments such as oral immunotherapy may be impractical in this cohort due to treatment burden and side effects, as omalizumab requires ongoing, potentially fortnightly injections with onset of benefit taking 3-4 months. A safe and effective treatment with rapid onset of protection and long duration of action would offer significant advantages over other currently available therapies. Although it is a long road ahead, significant strides are being made. Having a single treatment option for a food allergy in Australia would be game-changing and Jen commented how it made her, “... acutely aware of the privilege it is to be entrusted to deliver this project with IgGenix”. #ASCIA2024 #Conference #Immunology #Allergy #clinicalresearch #cro #m2m #IgGenix

Last weekend, My Room Children’s Cancer Charity held its annual gala with the theme ‘Emerald City,’ which was attended by Anne De Luca. My Room was established in 1993 by three families who were personally affected by childhood cancer. Since its founding, this incredible charity has supported and transformed the lives of many individuals, working to assist patients and families affected by cancer and striving to find a cure for all childhood cancers. Over the years, they have raised over $30 million, and what is even more impressive is their commitment to raising funds ethically and efficiently, donating 95 cents of every dollar to the cause. This is a testament to the hard work of the one full-time executive and the large team of dedicated volunteers. During the event, Anne had the honor of meeting Marcus Jones, who spoke eloquently about his journey of being diagnosed with a very rare cancer at just 15, going into remission, and then experiencing a recurrence of the cancer. Unlike his friends who were hanging out and doing typical teenage things, Marcus described his intensive treatment, enduring multiple rounds of chemo and intense radiotherapy. He spoke so movingly about the challenges he now faces due to the cancer’s recurrence, of potentially not being able to get married, or have children. Hearing from Marcus and his Dad highlighted just how crucial the work of My Room is, and how fundraising events like these will enable the charity to continue their work of supporting those affected by cancer and funding vital research. The gala raised a staggering and record: $1,124,156.04!  A huge congratulations to all of the My Room team. If you would like to support My Room and learn more about the phenomenal work they do, please visit their website: www.myroom.com.au In the images and attending the gala are Marcus and his Dad with Anne and her friend Christina, Liz Hartland, and MyRoom’s Mary Kayalicos, Mary McGowan OAM, Margaret Zita OAM and Maurizio Marcocci GAICD. #myroom #myroomgala #childhoodcancer #cancer

Robin Hansen and Anne De Luca attended the BioForum - From Bench to Bedside: Advancing Radiopharmaceuticals in Victoria hosted by BioMelbourne Network. Radiopharmaceuticals is a rapidly growing area, and this was a great opportunity to learn from some of the leading experts and to discover the cutting-edge advancements in radiotherapies and radiopharmaceuticals. The speakers included Simone Leyden AM from Telix Pharmaceuticals Limited who spoke passionately about her pursuit of equitable access and investment in treatments and changing the way we find and treat cancer and diseases — with radiopharmaceuticals delivering targeted radiation directly to tumours, limiting the damage to surrounding healthy tissue. @Dr Mo Haskali, Chief Radiopharmaceutical Scientist from Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, discussed the essentiality of training in radiopharmaceutical science and the nationally recognized training facility at PMCC. He also highlighted their integrated radiopharmaceutical sciences program (iRPS), the largest global theranostic platform from a hospital environment. Samuel Graf, Innovation and Partnerships, from Cyclotek Pty Ltd provided a commercial manufacturer perspective and an insightful overview of the importance of understanding the complexities of cGMP compliance. Thank you to all of the speakers and Karen Parr, CEO, BioMelbourne Network for hosting another great event. #BioForum #cro #clinicalresearch #radiopharmaceuticals #radiotherapies

It’s National Science Week from 10th to 18th August, Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology. This week acknowledges the contributions of Australian scientists and aims to inspire and encourage an interest in science among the community and the next generation of scientists. There are numerous events taking place over the week, including both in-person and online events, virtual tours, and more, which provide a fantastic opportunity to ignite an interest in science in children and young adults. For event details, please visit the website: https://lnkd.in/gwDVU2q Our team at M2M is incredibly proud of the work we do and the contributions we are making to the life science sector in Australia, the USA, and beyond. We have been reflecting on what prompted each of us to pursue our current career. For some, it was a deeply personal experience, but we all shared a desire to make a genuine difference and are motivated to find treatments and cures to improve people's lives. Some of us knew from a very young age that we wanted a career in this field or in a field that makes this kind of contribution. We thought we’d share what some of our team aspired to be when we were kids! #scienceweek #STEM #Australia #cro #lifescience #inspire #career #science

This week Anne De Luca and Robin Hansen enjoyed a site visit to IDT Australia Limited with Vinuth Srirama, Marc Flanders and Joe Desneves. As leading experts in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing, Anne and Robin were keen to see the facilities and capabilities that IDT had to offer. They were both impressed by the state-of-the-art technology and extensive facilities — with 10 buildings across 12,000m² footprint. Marc also enjoyed having the opportunity to have M2M on site “... to see firsthand our capabilities as an Australian CDMO that specializes in preclinical through to phase 3 and beyond, or how we like to say, ‘helping translate medicine from bench to patient.’” A big thank you from M2M to Vinuth, Marc and Joe for taking the time and giving such an informative tour. Robin and Anne particularly loved wearing the protective hair nets! #cro #CDMO #pharmaceutical #manufacturing #biotech #clinicalresearch
