  • Today on #RUOKDay, we’re reminded that a simple conversation can change a life.    Ben Monro, our Automotive Industry Career Mentor, is supporting the cause by sharing R U OK? Day cupcakes with apprentices and encouraging open conversations. Our staff also gathered for a morning tea to show their support.   When we ask 'R U OK?', we help others feel valued and supported. Let’s prioritise mental health—today and every day.   #MentalHealthMatters #RUOKDay #SupportEachOther #LetsTalk

Training focus - the Motor Trade Association of SA/NT recently had hundreds of students through, who are considering careers in the auto industry. Talking with trainers, small businesses and students, I was impressed by the connections being made and I have no doubt some of these young people are now on pathways to fulfilling and successful careers. The contribution made to addressing South Australia’s workforce needs by Group Training Organisations like the MTA cannot be understated. Particularly under former Skills Minister Hon. David Pisoni the former The Hon. Steven Marshall Liberal Government invested heavily in apprenticeship and traineeship pathways, and particularly provided a boost to the GTOs supporting them. That’s why thousands of small businesses took on their first ever apprentice during our term, and we saw the fastest growing rate of commencements in the country. A Vincent Tarzia Liberal Government will restore our priority focus on apprentices and trainees to help meet the workforce and skills needs of South Australian businesses, and to ensure that young South Australians are supported in these pathways to excellent jobs and lasting careers.

  • We're always proud to see our apprentices putting their skills to work on personal projects. Mack, a second-year MTA apprentice training to become a Light Vehicle Mechanical Technician, is a shining example. Mack has been working on his Ford Falcon Ute BF Mk II, achieving an impressive 500-kilowatt build. His project blends performance and practicality, showcasing his hard work and development as an aspiring technician. Reflecting on his journey, Mack shared: “Building this car taught me so much, not just about mechanics, but about problem-solving and perseverance. Knowing that I could achieve something like this without formal training at first was a huge confidence boost. The MTA’s support, along with my host employer, Alltrac 4WD, have played an important role in my development and I'm looking forward to continuing to learn new skills.” Great job, Mack! We can’t wait to see what you achieve next in your career and automotive ventures. • Each year, 850,000 vehicles reach their end-of-life in Australia. The Automotive Parts Recyclers Association of Australia (APRAA) and Motor Trades Association of Australia (MTAA) have recently launched the ‘The Outlook for End-of-Life Vehicles in Australia’ report. This comprehensive study reveals a pathway for boosting automotive recycling through a product stewardship scheme. The report draws on detailed research delivered jointly by the MTAA and the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI). One of the largest motor vehicle studies of its type undertaken in Australia, the research identified options to enhance end-of-life vehicle (ELV) material recovery rates, avoid inter-state leakage and reduce vehicle waste destined for landfill. Industry now propose to work together to explore a co-regulatory product stewardship scheme with government including initiatives such as: ♻️ Authorised collection and treatment facilities 📜 Certificates of Destruction (CoD) 🌏 National consistency Access the report here: https://lnkd.in/gNQs48bC
